Stellar Blade will be out later this month for the PlayStation 5 console. It is being developed by Shift Up, a Korean studio, and is being directed by Kim Hyung-tae. Together, Kim and his team have really crafted an incredible experience that fans have not gotten for years on the PlayStation console. This has led to Stellar Blade enjoying a massive fan following.
Some say this fan following is because its main character looks way too good. Others suggest it is popular for its incredibly designed gameplay mechanics. Whatever the reason might be, this game looks out of this world without a doubt. Besides defeating numerous enemies through it, players can unlock a bunch of cosmetics for protagonist Eve. The game’s director recently explained how it works.
The director of the Stellar Blade explains the unlockable skins
Every game is unlockable; even Spider-Man 2 had a bunch of suits to unlock for both heroes. And one cannot deny the fact that unlockables actually make games worth playing. When someone finds out they will be able to unlock something, they will definitely go back to it if the item is enticing enough.
Stellar Blade, too, has a bunch of such unlockables. Most importantly, there are numerous skins that players can equip for protagonist Eve. Someone revealed a while ago that Stellar Blade would have around 30 unlockable skins for Eve and her friends.
Some of those skins have already been shown. Players saw some in some trailers, while others were seen in the game’s demo that was launched a while ago. One can’t help but notice that these developers have really put a lot of effort into designing them.
But how does one go about unlocking those skins in the game itself? Fans must have this lingering question on their minds. The developers have released a ton of details regarding this game, but they have yet to clear any doubts regarding these incredible skins.
It looks like they have heard recently, in an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, that game director Kim Hyung-tae explained the process of unlocking those skins in-game. And to no one’s surprise, this process is pretty straightforward indeed.
“The colony where Eve and her friends live has a culture. So, I wanted to bring out the different textures of the two worlds, and I wanted to change the external impression of the characters (compared to modern Earth). However, not all costumes emphasize luster, and some of the costumes you can acquire through playing the game have different textures and textures, so we hope you enjoy seeing Eve in a variety of ways.”
It’s pretty clear that costumes or skins can be unlocked by players by simply playing the game and advancing through the story. Given how many skins they have designed for Eve, it is pretty evident that they really wanted to represent Eve in a number of ways.
To make sure fans get the best representation of the world in Stellar Blade, the effects of the surroundings are also seen in Eve’s costumes. And that’s why the rain and the dryness of the environment affect how the character’s costume looks.
But some costumes are not as effective as fans might think
While unlocking them would not be much of a chore for players, one thing that can cause trouble is one of Eve’s costumes. Many people noticed Eve’s Skin Suit in the recent demo; it is no doubt a very revealing piece of armor. It looks good, but it is pretty useless too.
This suit represents that Eve is not wearing any armor; hence, when in combat while wearing the skin suit, Eve would take more damage. Hence, players should think twice before they decide that Eve looks better in a skin suit.
