James Gunn can finally reshape the DCU as per his wishes following the conclusion of DCEU with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. One project most fans are patiently waiting to be unveiled under the leadership of Gunn is HBO’s Lanterns TV series.
Considering not much has been revealed about the upcoming show under the banner of DCU, it’s no surprise that many fans are sharing their views on potential options for the studio to cast in the Green Lantern Corps. One key character can be performed by none other than Sterling K. Brown.
Sterling K. Brown Wants to Play John Stewart in the New Lantern Series
Over the years, DC Comics fans have ached for an excellent adaptation of the Green Lantern Corps, regardless of the project being a movie or show. Well, with James Gunn working on the new Lanterns TV show, the expectations are high.
Speaking about the new show, American Fiction actor Sterling K. Brown recently expressed his desire to play one important character in the show. Brown wants to bring John Stewart to life, as revealed in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.
I watched that Justice League cartoon religiously in like high school, college right after, etc. It was dope. Seeing John Stewart, knowing that there was a black Green Lantern was something like in terms of representation, was like ‘Oh Man! There’s a space for me in this world and I see it.’ And when I looked [at the cartoon], I would think, ‘I kind of look like this dude.’

Brown explained the importance John Stewart held during his childhood after watching the Justice League cartoon. As of now, it’s been confirmed that Stewart and Hal Jordan will play a crucial role in the series.
Fans can also expect Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner to make an appearance, as it has already been confirmed that the character will make an appearance in Superman: Legacy.

Playing a beloved character from childhood is a dream come true for any actor around the globe. Evidently, Sterling K. Brown shares that dream, as he revealed what it would mean for him to get the part of John Stewart in the Lanterns TV show in the interview with Rotten Tomatoes.
If it could happen, that would be legitimately exciting. That would be one of those giddy-inducing moments in life because my kids would get it, without me having to explain it to them.
While it’s one thing to dream of doing the part, it’s completely another to actually nail it. Considering James Gunn wouldn’t want to mess up the new era of DCU, Sterling K. Brown will only get the part if he is near-perfect in the auditions.
As of now, there is no imminent release date for the series announced by James Gunn. So, Brown and DC fans will have to wait for a few months before they receive the potential good news.
