Sterling K. Brown might be a little too old for the role but it is a fact that the actor definitely has the looks, talent, and physique to portray the role of John Stewart. Set to be the co-lead in Lanterns. Stewart would be teaming up with Hal Jordan in a True-Detective-like fashion and fans certainly believe that Brown, thanks to his experience, would be the perfect co-lead.

Furthermore, Brown is already a fan of the character and super aware of the DC mythos, as he stated in his interview with Rotten Tomatoes.

“I watched that Justice League cartoon religiously in like high school, college right after, etc. It was dope. Seeing John Stewart, knowing that there was a black Green Lantern was something like in terms of representation, was like ‘Oh Man! There’s a space for me in this world and I see it.’ And when I looked [at the cartoon], I would think, ‘I kind of look like this dude.'”

Knowing that the actor already knows what the character is, he can effortlessly bring it on-screen more authentically and genuinely. Furthermore, fans allege that casting an actor like Brown would be the right choice for Gunn, who certainly needs such star power for his rebooted DCU.

Meanwhile, no official release date for Lanterns has been announce yet.
