Famously known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, Hugh Jackman is currently preparing to reprise his iconic role in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3. Ending his Wolverine journey with Logan in 2017, the actor yet again chose to return as the metal-clawed character in MCU.
However, there’s a lot that went behind Hugh Jackman’s X-Men character that even got him yelled at by the director. During an interview with The Guardian, Jackman recalled how his initial days on set were, and how filmmaker Bryan Singer had to discipline him.
Hugh Jackman Got Yelled At By Wolverine’s Director
Hugh Jackman has appeared in several acclaimed projects throughout his decades-long Hollywood career, but what stood out among all is his mutant role as Wolverine. Portraying James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, the Australian actor made his Marvel cinematic debut in 2000.
Ever since then, the actor has come a long way with his infamous role as Wolverine. However, recalling his initial years of working with filmmaker Bryan Singer, Jackman discussed how he was disciplined on the set, by the director. Speaking with The Guardian, the Aussie actor explained how his over-enthusiasm made Singer flip out.
“It takes every ounce of power in my body when I’m playing him just to keep still and find that interior, brooding aspect. [Director] Bryan Singer used to yell at me: ‘Stop moving! Just stand there and say your lines!’”
But eventually, with time and experience, Hugh Jackman learned how to control his excitement and did a great job in portraying the comic book character. In 2017, Jackman released Logan, which was apparently his farewell for Wolverine. However, currently, he is preparing to appear in Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds.

Hugh Jackman Is Set To Appear As Wolverine In MCU
Wearing the classic yellow suit Hugh Jackman is returning to surprise his fans in Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Deadpool 3. Merging the X-Men universe with the MCU, the adamantium-clawed mutant is set to appear alongside the Merc with the Mouth for the third sequel.
Expected to hit the theatres in 2024, the highly anticipated movie will reunite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, since their screen sharing in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The upcoming Deadpool 3 will thus mark the introduction of X-Men characters into the MCU, since apart from Jackman, there are a few other X-Men characters who are deemed to have a cameo.
Following the commercial success of Ryan Reynolds’ prequels, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine movies, MCU believes it will be groundbreaking to cast the duo together in Deadpool 3. Thus, although Jackman gave closure to his character, the MCU opportunity made him return to reprise his role, once again.
