Ant-Man faced Kang the Conquerer in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While the villain was defeated, he warned that more of him would show up to avenge his defeat. This is a statement that haunts Scott Lang as the film comes to an end.

While we see Lang having a great time throughout his day, the statement haunts him. The vibes of the ending are a little sinister, punctuating the perfect day that bookends the film. A Reddit theory has been making the rounds on the internet, which focuses on why this could mean a darker ending for Scott Lang and the film.

Ant-Man might still be stuck in the Quantum Realm

The theory posits that the sinister ending of the film indicates that Lang is still stuck in the Quantum Realm. This is corroborated by the scene where Hank Pym sees alternate versions of reality. This distortion in reality is put to an end when Janet rescues him.

However, this is not the only evidence for the theory. The film closes out with a lot of Kang the Conqueror imagery. A lot of extras in the final scenes of the film are wearing purple, which is contrasted with the green of the shrubbery. Casey’s party at the end of the film has a green cake and purple balloons. While this could simply be cinematic language to indicate the looming presence of Kang, other things seem off.

When Lang goes to get his coffee, the barista at the store addresses him as Ant-Man. However, he also has to pay for his coffee, something he didn’t have to do at the beginning of the film when he was being misidentified as Spider-Man.

All of this points to something being off in Lang’s reality. Whether he is stuck in an alternate universe or is trapped in the Quantum realm is yet to be seen.

Ant-Man could provide the means to defeat Kang

In the Infinity Saga, Lang being stuck in the Quantum Realm gave the Avengers a chance to fight Thanos. If the above theory is true, it would make sense for the Multiverse Saga to mirror such a situation. Given that there are no slated appearances of Ant-Man anywhere else in the MCU, it is safe to assume we will see him directly in  Avengers 5 or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Lang has become increasingly adept at understanding the Quantum Realm, and with the TVA out of the way, it is possible that the Quantum Realm can be used as a means to defeat Kang, something that Lang could present to the Avengers if they even find themselves at a loss for options.

However, this theory must be taken with a grain of salt, given that Kang has been neatly dealt with by the TVA, which offers Marvel an opportunity to shift gears, allowing for a stronger villain to take IP the mantle of the chief antagonist for the coming few sagas.
