Jason Momoa got his standalone movie centered on his DC character, Aquaman in 2018 which was financially successful. This led the franchise to plan for its sequel titled, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom however it faced several setbacks.
One of the major negative influences was linked with Amber Heard who plays Mera in DCEU. Due to her highly-publicized court battle with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, many demanded her exit, but it was not the only reason as many pointed out her lack of chemistry with Momoa for such requests.
Even the movie screening further left fans in disarray. After several delays, the Momoa-led movie is set to be released in the United States on December 22, 2023.
