Fans went crazy when Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell appeared on the red carpet earlier this year to promote their upcoming romantic comedy film, Anyone But You, because, well, they looked so comfortable together.

In an interview with Variety, the Euphoria star commented on the rife speculations about her and Powell in August. Sweeney acknowledged that, despite being engaged to Jonathan Davino, she struggled with rumors that she was dating her Anyone But You co-star when questioned about whether or not she had an off-screen romance with Powell. Sometimes she felt “beat up” by rumors of this affair because she could not defend herself.

Despite still being engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Jonathan Davino (a Chicago-based restaurateur), Sydney Sweeney was quick to accept that she struggled with rumors that she was dating her Anyone But You co-star. In an interview, the actress, 26, told Variety pensively:
“Sometimes I feel beat up by it. It’s hard to sit back and watch, and not be able to stand up for yourself.”
Thankfully, the Euphoria actress has not let the rumors get to her; she told the outlet that, despite everything, she and Glen Powell, 35, are still close friends.
“Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”
Sweeney continued by expressing her excitement to travel with Powell on the movie’s press tour. She went on to explain how they responded to all of the news stories about their close relationship.
“We talk all the time, like, ‘That’s really funny’.”
Meanwhile, the rom-com’s director, Will Gluck, agreed that Sweeney was able to navigate the dating speculation like a true professional. He told Variety:
“Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media. She didn’t emotionally internalize it. It was crazy, but after a while it became normal.”
Despite both of them being in committed relationships at the time, Sweeney and Powell initially ignited romance rumors in March when they showed off a lot of chemistry on set while filming in Australia (per Page Six).

As per Vox, when Powell, 35, and Sweeney, 26, were seen hanging out off-screen while filming the upcoming romantic comedy, rumors circulated that they were cheating on their respective partners earlier this year. Fans were led further down a rabbit hole of speculation when the Top Gun: Maverick actor released the photos (via PEOPLE) around the time he broke up with his then-girlfriend Gigi Paris.
