Amid the echoes of Dune: Part Two success, Tinseltown is getting overshadowed by Dakota Johnson’s latest career move, followed by the failure of Madame Web. The way the actress handled the catastrophic box office performance of her Marvel movie, and even left her talent agency WME for CAA, sparked a whirlwind of speculation and concern.
Meanwhile, according to inside reports from Jeff Sneider, it has been revealed that although Dakota Johnson is being mocked for her Madame Web role, the actress was allegedly forced to join the cast. Reportedly coerced into leading the much-anticipated Madame Web, Johnson’s career was allegedly tanked on purpose.
Dakota Johnson Left Her Talent Agency WME for CAA
Famously known for her appearance in the Fifty Shades trilogy, Dakota Johnson recently made her superhero debut with Marvel. However, the actress didn’t seem quite happy with her comic book movie or her role. During the promotional rounds, Johnson visibly appeared disinterested in the film, much like Jared Leto was while promoting Morbius.
However, this particular disinterest that sparked concerns among fans, turned into headlines, after Dakota Johnson made a conspicuous jump from her talent agency WME to CAA. According to Variety reports, just days after a baffling first trailer debuted, the actress raised eyebrows in the industry by leaving WME.
Dakota Johnson was Reportedly Coerced Into Madame Web
While Dakota Johnson’s career move sparked speculations of whether this was a coincidence, considering the timing was rather suspicious, insider Jeff Sneider revealed details that seemingly ignited further curiosity. According to reports from the industry scooper via The InSnieder, it was reported that Johnson’s decision to leave WME came after she was reportedly coerced into Madame Web.
“I’m told that Johnson was extremely reluctant to sign on to Madame Web, but was convinced to do so by Andrew Dunlap, her former agent at WME, which also represents the film’s director, S.J. Clarkson.”
Raising questions about the dynamics of actor-studio negotiations and the pressures faced by actors regarding their involvement in the superhero genre, Jeff Sneider‘s reports sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Implying that despite knowing Madame Web would become the subject of ridicule, WME allegedly forced Dakota Johnson to sign for the role.

This particular revelation not only shed light on the delicate balance between creative freedom and contractual obligations but also indirectly revealed the reason why Johnson jumped from WME to CAA.
Madame Web Actress Getting Mocked for Her Role
Despite being allegedly forced into Madame Web, it was Dakota Johnson who eventually became the subject of mockery, following the failure of the film. Although it was reported that the agents at WME were fully aware of the consequences and yet forced Johnson to sign, it was eventually the actress who faced public wrath and criticism.
Dakota Johnson was the main reason madame Web was a huge flop, she didn't fit the role, the movie was built around her.

Taking to social media, fans and netizens began scrutinizing the movie and slamming Johnson for her role as Cassandra Webb. However, the actress seemingly handled the online criticism quite professionally and even told Bustle, “I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again.” Taking it as a one-time experience, Johnson not only moved on from the film’s failure but even her talent agency.
