Taylor Swift is constantly making headlines for one reason or another. The American singer’s fame has known no limits over these past few years and has continued to skyrocket. Last year, her stardom broke all limits as she ended the year as the most streamed artist on Spotify and her Eras Tour (2023-24) even became the highest-grossing tour of all time.

Beating the revenues of a movie from a big studio like Warner Bros. is not something easy, but Swift was so successful last year that she made more money from Spotify alone than James Gunn’s DCU did with Blue Beetle.
Taylor Swift’s earnings from Spotify in 2023
According to Spotify Wrapped which was released a few months ago back in November, Taylor Swift emerged as the most popular artist of the year with more than almost 26.1 billion streams. It means that her songs were streamed over a billion times every 12 days which is quite an achievement in itself.

According to a music streaming royalty calculator created by Manatt, for every billion streams on Spotify, the app pays the artist almost $5.06 million in royalties. When we multiply these numbers by Taylor Swift’s record 26.1 billion streams last year, we get that the Blank Space singer almost earned a whopping amount of $132.1 million as royalties from Spotify alone thus making her the most successful artist of 2023.
Blue Beetle turned out to be a box office bomb
Everyone had high hopes for Ángel Manuel Soto’s superhero movie, Blue Beetle, which was released last year in July, but those hopes were quickly shattered. Although a lot of factors were responsible for the failure of Blue Beetle at the box office, fans mainly blamed the authorities at DCEU for not marketing the movie well. It is quite understandable that the actors could not promote the movie due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes but it seemed like the marketing team did not do anything other than dropping 2 trailers for the movie.

Unfortunately, Blue Beetle did not have the stature of a superhero yet that would reel in fans to the theatres just by his name, and therefore the movie turned out to be a box office bomb. Blue Beetle managed to gross a total of $130 million against a production of $125 million, barely managing to break even.
Blue Beetle is currently streaming on HBO Max.
