According to reports, Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift was recently revealed to be allegedly related to poet Emily Dickinson. As per a post from Ancestry.com, Swift is a distant relative of Dickinson. The two are reportedly sixth cousins, three times removed, and descend from the same 17th-century English immigrant, who settled in Windsor, Connecticut.

“The remarkable connection between Taylor Swift and Emily Dickinson is just one example of the incredible things you can discover when you explore your past.”

A spokesperson for Ancestry.com made the above statement (via CBS News) regarding the discovery of the relationship between the two women. Swift’s work is known to be heavily influenced by Dickinson and her poetry. In 2022, while accepting an award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International, Swift revealed that a genre of her songs is inspired by Dickinson’s poetry.

At the same time, it is widely speculated that Swift’s ninth studio album Evermore is inspired by Dickinson. The album’s title is taken from Dickinson’s poem One Sister Have I in Our House.
