Celine Dion’s surprise appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards shocked many but fans were overjoyed seeing the music icon on the stage. Dion presented the final award album of the year that went to pop sensation Taylor Swift’s hit Midnights.
Dion’s presentation, however, met with an awkward situation when Swift ignored the legend when she was over the moon celebrating her win. Fans immediately reacted to the moment calling Swift rude for her ignorance for overlooking the Canadian singer.
Celine Dion’s Surprise Appearance At The 66th Grammys
Legendary music superstar Celine Dion appeared at the 66th Grammys with her son René-Charles Angélil while battling with Stiff Person Syndrome— an autoimmune neurological disorder. “When I say that um I’m happy to be here I really mean it from my heart,” she said on the Grammy stage addressing her return. In her acute appearance wearing a stunning golden coat complementing the glaring necklace, the My Heart Will Go On singer hailed the essence of the music.
“Those who have been blessed in enough to be here the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world,” she added.
Right after her speech, Dion went on to present the final award of the evening announcing Taylor Swift’s name as the winner. Swift who became the first artist to earn four Album of the Year prizes, hugged almost everyone presented on the stage with utmost joy but ignored the legendary singer who was holding the award for her. Swift took the award without giving much attention to Dion and gave the acceptance speech.
Fans Are Upset with Taylor Swift
Swift’s attitude towards Dion, 55, did not go well with fans as the 14-time Grammy winner was heavily criticized for the moment. Dion has previously stated that she wishes to return to the stage to perform amid her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis. After three years, her presence at the award mesmerized everyone.

After the on-stage awkward moment, Dion and Swift were seen hugging and posing for photographs backstage. Perhaps, Swift lost the sense of what happening on the stage while being overjoyed for her win. As for Dion, the music icon has been filming her life story after her diagnosis in the documentary coming Amazon Prime documentary I Am: Celine Dion. Swift also announced her next album Tortured Poets Department at the Grammys.
