Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the titular characters respectively is the 34th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the sequel to 2018’s Deadpool 2. Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine integrates Deadpool with MCU and retains the R-rating of the previous movies.
Hugh Jackman decided to reprise his role as Wolverine after seven years. Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the highly awaited movies of 2024 and the trailer was released at the Super Bowl. One specific scene from the trailer is being talked about the most, which goes on to mention, ‘pegging’ and ‘Disney’ in one line.
Disney censors ‘pegging’ from Deadpool 3 international trailer
The highly awaited trailer of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 now titled Deadpool & Wolverine was released during the Super Bowl 2024. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as James ‘Logan’ Howlett a.k.a. Wolverine. The trailer received a positive response from the audience who had been waiting for the movie ever since it was announced.
One particular scene from the trailer that drew everyone’s attention was Reynolds’ Deadpool still suffering from the events of Deadpool 2 trying to celebrate his birthday and ending up meeting an army of men with frightening tasers. He says to them,
“Is that supposed to be scary? Pegging isn’t new for me, friend, but it is for Disney.”
But for the international green-band trailer, the word ‘pegging’ is replaced with ‘an R-rating’, which is said to be re-dubbed making the movie appropriate for the younger audience. The trailer that was released during the Super Bowl was a shorter version of the actual trailer, which did not include the scene. The full version of the trailer was later released on YouTube.
According to Escapist Magazine, it is not surprising that Disney decided to censor the word for the international trailer of an R-rated movie because it wants audiences from every age group to be able to watch Wade and Logan on-screen.
Fans react to Disney censoring the ‘funniest line’ from Deadpool 3 trailer to appeal to younger audience
As soon as the full version of the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was released, fans noticed how the word ‘pegging’ was replaced with ‘R-rating’ for the international trailer. They took to their social media to share their views by calling Deadpool fire adding that it should be a box office banger.
A user wrote, ‘Man that right there is the line of the year’, with another adding, ‘This should’ve been in the trailer, I’m sorry because this is more accurate and funnier’, and another one wrote, ‘So an r-rated joke was replaced by ‘r-rating’.

An X user pointed out that they removed what was un-ironically the best part of the trailer with another adding that they cannot believe that the makers got Deadpool to agree to redub the line. Following the trailer’s release, Hugh Jackman also decided to tweak the title and shared a picture on his X account that read, ‘Wolverine & A**hole’ with the caption, ‘Fixed it’.
At least they kept it to something Deadpool would say
