If it isn’t abundantly clear in his words, actions or choice of movies that he makes, Paul Mescal is not someone who bothers with making mainstream, blockbuster baits and instead focuses on roles that truly challenge him.

While speaking to The Times, Paul Mescal emphasizes that acting should not be judged based on Instagram followers. He rejects the term “content” when referring to films and TV shows, stressing that it diminishes the craft of acting, emphasizing that it is genuine work rather than mere “content.”

Over the last few years people have been talking about films and TV shows as content. That’s a filthy word. It’s not ‘content’, it’s f***** work.”

Paul Mescal has made it even more clear that he respects acting as an art form and simply detests such Instagram trends that have become prevalent nowadays. In fact, it’s quite rare for green actors to become defining actors of their generation, but that’s what Paul Mescal did. Especially because he gets to work with Ridley Scott. For that, quite a few fans truly respect him now for good reason.

“I can’t get into that! I can’t tell you how stressed I am talking about that film in particular, because it’s definitely the biggest one I’ve done. I feel really excited, but, like, it’s difficult to get away from the legacy of the film a bit. I think it’s really well written and it pays homage to the first one, but it’s very much something that I think I can step into and make comfortably my own.”

While unable to delve into details, he conveyed excitement and acknowledged the challenge of living up to the original’s reputation. Mescal believes the script pays homage to the first film and is confident he can comfortably make the role his own.
