John Cena’s Brief Cameo in the 2023 Blockbuster
Following his well-established wrestling career, John Cena ventured into Hollywood like his WWE rival Dwayne Johnson. Appearing in the entertainment industry, Cena quickly turned into a fan-favorite actor and landed the role of Peacemaker in DC. Debuting as the character in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad, Cena shared the screen with Margot Robbie.
Working with the 33-year-old actress was an incredible experience for John Cena. But what’s more important was the future of his character in the DC universe. Soon after his debut as Peacemaker, Cena turned into a highly appreciated DC character, which led him to land a standalone series in 2022.
His appearance in The Suicide Squad landed him with great opportunities in Hollywood. However, John Cena isn’t quite grateful for the DC project, as he is for another Margot Robbie film. After sharing the screen with the 33-year-old actress in 2021, Cena proceeded to appear in Robbie’s 2023 blockbuster Barbie, with a cameo as a Merman version of Ken.
John Cena is Grateful for His Cameo in Barbie
Speaking about his cameo as one of the multitudes of Ken in Greta Gerwig‘s hit movie Barbie, John Cena expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. Although the appearance of Cena is quite brief, it is a rather memorable scene for him, in the movie which surpassed $1.4B at the global box office.
Discussing his experience with ExtraTV, during the premiere of The Iron Claw, John Cena mentioned that although he is no stranger to the big screen and working with Margot Robbie, Barbie was the best experience he had. It was like a lucky charm or as Cena said, a “four leaf clover” for him.
“That one man, that’s a four leaf clover for me. I was really lucky. I’m very grateful for all the opportunities that come our way. But I was especially lucky for that.”
“Didn’t have to do much. Just put on a fish tail and a blonde wig and let all the talented folks do the rest. It’s great to see, not only the film be so successful amongst the consumers out there, but certainly with the critics as well.”
Acknowledging how he didn’t have to work much in the movie, and yet had a great experience, John Cena seemed to be rather proud of his appearance in Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster Barbie.
