The arrival of James Gunn led to DCEU receiving a soft reboot and becoming DCU. While many things are bound to change with Gunn’s arrival, John Cena will most likely return as Peacemaker. After all, the 2022 series was one of the few positives that was released under the banner of DCEU.
As of now, there is no official confirmation about Cena’s return as the titular character in Peacemaker season 2. For that matter, the second season of the series is yet to receive the green light from DCU.
John Cena is Positive About Peacemaker Season 2
The era of DCEU is over, and most fans are happy about it. However, John Cena’s Peacemaker left a noteworthy impact on fans, and obviously, they want to see the former WWE superstar return to the role.
Keeping that in mind, Cena recently shared his thoughts on Peacemaker season 2 in an interview with Variety on Twitter.
I know they’re shifting around some things around over at DC, but I know that James Gunn’s made some statements that we’re going in for season 2, and what he says usually he does.
Cena also answered whether fans can expect a Peacemaker movie and that too in the musical genre.

James has been tasked with turning out the DC Universe, and it is all set to be a taxing task for the new CEO of DC Studios. However, ensuring what fans demand should be step one for Gunn and his team at the studio.
One of the biggest requests from the fanbase is to see John Cena return as Peacemaker. Fortunately, Gunn previously mentioned that he has no plans to axe the popular show.
Considering Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill’s Superman are among the characters that will get replaced in the DCU, one cannot blame for wondering about the fate of Cena’s Peacemaker in future projects.
Most fans are expecting a second season for the series, but what if Gunn went out of his way to make a unique decision for the series? The perfect way would be to make it a musical. Cena seemingly doesn’t seeem against that idea.
James Gunn Admitted Facing Issues Around John Cena’s Peacemaker Season 2
It’s no surprise that the new CEO of DC Studios has a lot on his plate right now. After all, replacing almost the entire cast of a franchise is not a small deal. While it has been confirmed that Cena will return as Peacemaker in future projects, there is still no precise timeline for the second season of the show starring the 46-year-old actor.
Gunn will be the writer for Peacemaker season 2, similar to the inaugural season of the series. However, considering Gunn’s involvement in other projects, he admitted that it would be a bit of a struggle in terms of writing.
Either way, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the audience receives a positive update from Gunn about Cena’s series.
As of now, Cena has shown trust in Gunn’s promise about the show returning, and fans should do the same, at least for the time being.
