The second episode of the inaugural season of The Acolyte begins with Mae breaking into a local Jedi temple in Olega. She pays a local child to distract security. When she arrives, she enters the sleeping quarters of a man named Torbin. He looks like a Jedi, meditating or sleeping while hovering in the air.

Mae tells Torbin he must pay and asks him to attack her with everything he has, but he doesn’t move or open his eyes. She begins to attack, but clearly, some shield prevents her from getting close to him. The sharp knives Mae used to kill Indara also do not pierce the shield. Mae hears someone approaching, so she escapes through a window in the ceiling.

Mae visits a friend in town, Qimir. She needs a weapon to kill the “impenetrable” Torbin. The man gives Mae a “poison” to kill Torbin in what he calls an “absolution.”

Disney+’s The Acolyte (2024) Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: Who is Master Torbin?

We do not know who Master Torbin is, but we do know that Mae blames him for something awful and that he is Sol’s old friend. When Sol, Osha, Yord, and Jecki Jon land in Alegra, they head to the Jedi temple. However, Mae arrives in Torbin’s room again just as Sol talks to the temple managers.

Sol is informed that Torbin has not talked for over ten years. Something awful happened to him in prison during that period. As Mae (Amandla Stenberg) approaches, she tells Torbin that she knows why he took the “Barash Vow.” This is a vow taken by a Jedi warrior to refrain from all activities related to the Jedi Order as a form of penitence.

Mae manipulates Torbin by telling the absolute truth. As the man said, she is offering him absolution as a form of poise. She sits and implies again that she knows what he did. For the first time, Torbin opens his eyes. He sits, takes the poison (called “boonta”), and tells her, “We thought we were doing the right thing.” He drinks the poison and dies.

Who Does Mae Seek Revenge On?

After Mae tells Sol (Lee Jung-jae) that the poison is from her home planet, they locate a local man who sells it. His name is Qimir, and they find his shop. (The locals say they do not recognize him.) They send Mae to talk to him and record his confirmation to Osha that he made the poison to kill Torbin. However, as they inch closer, he says, “You look just like her.”

The jig is up; Osha pulls her weapon, and Sol and his friends enter the shop. Yord draws his yellow lightsaber, and Jecki Jon prevents Qimir from escaping out the back. Sol interrogates him, and Qimir comes clean because Sol promises to let him go if he tells the truth.

Qimir (Top Gun: Maverick’s Manny Jacinto) tells Sol that Mae is returning tonight and seeking revenge on four Jedi. We know one must have been Indara, and another was Torbin. So, who are the other two? We have to wonder if Sol may be next.

Who are the Four Jedi Mae is Hunting?

Osha logically hypothesizes that besides Indara and Torbin, the other two Jedi must be Kelnacca (Joonas Suotama) and Sol. (Osha refers to an incident that happened 16 years prior while they were stationed in Braddock.) However, Osha makes another shocking revelation—she tells Sol that Mae killed her family.

In The Acolyte episode, Osha tells Sol she cannot stop him from confronting her. Sol tells Osha to let her grief go, or it will consume her, just like her twin sister Mae has been consumed by hate. Sol also tells Osha that she needs to have faith not only in him but also in her twin sister Mae.

Disney+’s The Acolyte Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained: Why Is Mae Seeking Revenge on the Four Jedi?

In this Star Wars saga, We are not sure at first, but after a thrilling hand-to-hand combat scene against Sol, it’s revealed that Mae has no idea her twin sister Osha is alive. Could this be the reason she is seeking revenge? It seems likely. Then why did Osha tell Sol that Mae killed her entire family? That is not made clear.

Sol confiscates Mae’s three knives, but not the one Mae secretly keeps in her back pocket. She attempts to kill Sol as she did Indara, but Yord uses the Force to stop her. Sol offers his hand to take Mae in and tells her Osha is alive, but she doesn’t believe him. She escapes by creating a dust cloud.

Mae eventually steals a vehicle. However, Osha is there and points a laser pistol at her. Mae sees Osha and cannot believe her eyes that Sol is telling the truth. However, Osha fires but appears to miss twice on purpose, and Mae escapes. Later, Qimir tells her he located Kelnacca and helps her leave Alegra.

Who is Kelnacca?

In The Acolyte, Kelnacca is a Jedi Wookiee! I had no idea that was a thing, but we see Kelnacca in the forest outer rim Jedi village of Khofar. We see Kelnacca use the Force to take the weapons off some hunters who locate the Wookiee’s crashed ship (a great scene, by the way). As Kelnacca walks to his house, the credits roll.
