Epic Games Store has now revealed the first free game for 2024 and it is a single-player adventure title called Sail Forth. The title is developed by Festive Vector and is published by The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild where players sail across the seas to look for crewmates, treasure, and more.
The store brings new free games every week for players ever since it launched almost five years back, making it one of the most popular PC stores. The storefront recently finished the mystery game giveaway during the Holiday season when it gave away a new title each day for free.
Epic Games Store Is Giving Away Sail Forth
Sail Forth will be available on Epic Games Store from January 11 to January 18, 2024, and even if it’s not the game everyone likes to play, no one would want to miss out on a freebie. The game was launched across platforms on December 22, 2022, and has been praised for its engaging ship combat, stunning visuals, and overall aesthetic.
Players start with a small wooden boat and go on an adventure across the seven seas to look for treasures along with their custom-made crewmates. The game puts exploration at the center with players visiting several islands, coming across creatures and plants, and other things. The game has realistic ship-sailing skills and there is a compass available to help players out.
Players can decide how they continue the story as they randomly discover new locations and learn about other islands by talking to NPCs. However, there is no journal to keep track of things so players will need to remember what they need to do and how can they unlock items in the game. Players can talk to merchants to unlock ships and upgrades to purchase and build a stronger ship.
Players can have weapons, they can engage in fishing, and also come across pirates and bases. Many players might think that the game will provide an experience like Sea of Thieves but there is no open world to explore. Players will have new areas to explore but the areas have borders and once players reach there, they will be taken to a new area.
Overall, the game has almost everything that a sailing title should have such as exploration, treasure hunting, fishing, and objectives, and combined with pleasing aesthetics and a beautiful world, it is surely worth playing. The game is also around 31 hours long as per How Long to Beat so there is plenty of content for players.
While players interested in Sail Forth wait for it to be available, the game for next week, January 18 to January 25 has also leaked and it is said to be an Indie platformer title called Love. The game was released a decade ago and received almost negative reviews from players and critics alike for its extremely short length but it currently does have a “Very Positive” Steam rating.
Moreover, the game is only over 30 minutes in length for a single playthrough so players who like to play a platformer might give it a try. The game is around 10 hours long for players going for a completionist run. Epic Games has given players some very good games to its users for free over the years. It gave away several acclaimed titles last year such as Death Stranding, Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition, Payday 2, The Evil Within 1 and 2, Eternal Threads, and many more.
It also gave popular titles every day with the mystery game giveaway during the holidays such as Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition, Ghostrunner, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and others. It is expected that the storefront will give players better games in 2024.
