The Game Awards 2023 are less than a month away, but the nominations for various categories have already been announced. It has been an outstanding year for gamers due to the multiple extraordinary titles that have been released. However, The Game Awards are a celebration of the best video games that have stood out the most, and the nominees, for the most part, reflect that perfectly.

There have been some surprises, a couple of obvious snubs, and many deserving inclusions, but one The Game Awards 2023 nomination stands out as being hilariously unexpected. In fact, the individual does not seem to want to be included in the respective category and has actually requested to be removed from the nominations.

This The Game Awards 2023 nomination came as such a huge surprise that even the nominee did not expect the inclusion, leading to the appeal of being taken out of the award category. Fans have been excitedly talking about their favorite nominations and winning predictions, but amid all of the chatter and anticipation, XTQZZZ does not want to be included in his category and has asked to be removed from the list of nominees.

Officially taking place next month on December 7, The Game Awards are an annual celebration of all things video games, but that does not necessarily mean that everyone wants to be a part of the show.

One of the most highlighted aspects of The Game Awards 2023’s nominations is the absence of Bethesda’s space epic role-playing title Starfield in the Game of the Year category, which is the biggest award at the event.

On the other hand, Nintendo emerged as the underdog protagonist of The Game Awards 2023, beating both PlayStation and Xbox when it comes to the total number of nominations, with two exclusive titles in the Game of the Year category, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as another game called Pikmin 4 earning multiple spots in other categories.

Getting a nomination at the biggest gaming-related award show is a huge feat on its own, but the current Counter-Strike coach for Team Vitality, XTQZZZ, wants nothing to do with it. After being nominated in the Best eSports Coach category at The Game Awards, he took to X, formerly Twitter, to specifically request the removal of his nomination.

Meet XTQZZZ, the Counter-Strike Coach Who Does Not Want to Be Included in The Game Awards Nominees

For those unfamiliar with Team Vitality, whose coach has been nominated at The Game Awards, it has made an undeniable impact on the gaming landscape this year due to its unmatched expertise and success playing Counter-Strike. Moreover, the team managed to be victorious in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, which took place earlier in May.

The twist here is that XTQZZZ was not even the one coaching Team Vitality during these major competitions, and it was actually zonic who guided it to victory, even though the latter is also nominated in the same award category at The Game Awards 2023.

To address his surprise nomination at The Game Awards 2023, XTQZZZ asked everyone to “be serious 2 min.” He then stated the fact that he was not “even a coach this year,’ yet alone coaching Team Vitality to its Counter-Strike dominance. Keeping it short and simple, the coach had the following message for The Game Awards:

Take me off the list

Prior to his The Game Awards nomination, XTQZZZ was actually coaching Team SoloMid to help it get back into Counter-Strike eSports, but he had to leave it after two months to head over to Team Vitality. Basically, he has not guided the team in any official tournaments or matches till now.

To make matters even more interesting, although his involvement with the latter team was already announced before IEM Sydney 2023, he was not present, leading to assistant coach MaT taking charge instead.

All things considered, it makes sense why XTQZZZ isn’t on board with being a nominee at The Game Awards, even though he has taken Team Vitality’s Counter-Strike 2 career to new heights, which should get him a more fitting nomination next year.
