Leaving behind Georgia as a teenager with the dream of becoming a Hollywood star, Walton Goggins had once made his way to the entertainment industry. Although Walton Goggins is often known for playing villainous roles, there’s another similarity between them. Apparently, all his characters are known for talking a lot. And it seems even Goggins is aware of the striking similarities between his onscreen characters. Therefore, during a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Goggins implied how his acting choices perhaps drew him closer to his character as Ghoul.

I don’t seek out those roles. I don’t look for roles [so] that I can ham it up. It is a world that I fit in that has gotten a lot of attention. A lot of the things that I’ve done that have been very well respected haven’t been as successful. It is what it is. Maybe I’ve trying to go back and forth.”

Speaking with the outlet about his upcoming show adapted from the popular video game franchise by the same name, Walton Goggins discussed what appealed to him about his Fallout characters. Beginning his discussion by calling Ghoul and Cooper Howard’s character polls apart, Goggins reflected upon the aspect that drew him closer to his character.

The Ghoul is very, very different from Cooper Howard. He’s much more reserved. And that was a bit challenging for me to find both of them. Because you don’t really understand one unless you understand the other. The Ghoul is a rascal, really. He’s got a great sense of humor, but underneath that is a lot of pain. He’s seen a lot and felt a lot and all the rest of it. And Cooper’s a kind, patient, caring product of the Greatest Generation. He’s about the best this country has to offer.”

Admitting the challenges he faced while portraying dual roles, Walton Goggins implied that at times it was overwhelming to understand both his characters. Further, in the interview, he was asked if he personally feels any connection with his mystical Fallout character, Ghoul, to which the actor got candid about what his true personality is like.

I have the propensity, yeah, but the swagger that I have comes in spurts. For every hour of energy that I spend lighting up a room, or trying to engage people, I need two or three hours to myself. I’m an introverted extrovert or an extroverted introvert — I suppose that’s really my nature. But yeah, I think I like to get in a little trouble.”

Getting candid during his interview, the Emmy-nominated actor later opened up about his career choices and his upcoming show Fallout. Further, Walton Goggins spoke about the entertainment industry and his projects in detail.
