Back in the ’90s and even now, Jerry Seinfeld is widely regarded as one of the most talented stars in the comedy genre, especially because of his superhit iconic series named after his surname. But as much as he was in love with this genre and fans were in love with his show, the finale of his fan-favorite series was inevitably botched and thoroughly hated by fans for many years that followed.

That being said, his own saga’s finale was obviously not one that he considered to be the best, and he was even slightly bothered by it, even decades later. But other than that, the one series finale that the 69-year-old comedian actually considers the greatest of all television shows was none other than the seven-season drama series from the late 2000s, Mad Men.

Jerry Seinfeld Feels Mad Men Had the “Greatest” Finale

Usually, artists tend to find their own work the most appealing because that’s what they can relate to the most. But with Jerry Seinfeld, this is slightly different, especially when it comes to the greatest finale of all TV shows in his eyes — which, needless to mention, isn’t his own iconic saga’s unarguably botched finale.

At least that’s what he expressed during a recent interview with GQ. While addressing his own series’ final episode — one that inevitably left all the fans more disappointed than they had ever been before — the Bee Movie star also let out which television series’ finale he instead considered to be the best.

Talking about all of those series finales “which we thought were great,” he said:

“I feel Mad Men was the greatest. A lot of people like the Bob Newhart one. Mary Tyler Moore was okay. I think [it] was the greatest final moment of a series I’ve ever seen. So satisfying. So funny.”

In fact, what made the 2007 series‘ finale all the more interesting was the fact that they didn’t repeat the same mistake that the Unfrosted actor’s show did. As he shared about the Mad Men crew:

“They said that they had sat and watched the Seinfeld finale, trying to figure out what went wrong. And it was obviously about the final scene, leaving them in the jail cell…”

Well, as ouch-y as that may sound, watching Jerry’s series’ finale closely to not make the same mistake seems to have most certainly helped them, considering how the 69-year-old comedian himself called Jon Hamm‘s series’ finale the greatest!

During the same interview, the Comedian star also revealed that even after all these years since his series’ end, he still feels a bit bothered by the botched way in which it ended. When he was asked had his superhit television-show-from-the-’90s‘ finale bothered him even after all these years, he said:

“A little bit, yeah.”

Yet, at the same time, he also revealed that although it slightly bothers him, he doesn’t “believe in regret.” This means he doesn’t hold any deep regrets over how his iconic show ended. As he said:

“I don’t believe in regret. I think it’s arrogant to think you could have done something different. You couldn’t. That’s why you did what you did.”

Seems like the iconic Hollywood comedian isn’t really one to hold grudges — even when the thing in the talk is his own beloved series’ botched end!
