The two have also worked together in a franchise, with both playing characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Tombstone actor played the role of Ego, the father of Starlord in The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, whereas the Black Mirror actor played the role of John Walker, the replacement of Steve Rogers as Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, this would not be the same experience as the two working on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters as these were completely different projects and they never shared the screen together.

Wyatt Russell revealed to ET that in the past, he and his father, Kurt Russell, have been asked multiple times to feature in the same project. “We have been asked to be in the same movie, usually as father and son, but the idea of playing the same person had an artistic element to it that drew us to it,”

Things were a lot different when it came to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The reason for this was the fact that they would not be related in any way, rather, playing the same person, who was at different points in his life. As the actor put it, he loved the artistic elements that went into playing a character such as this, considering he had to make sure that he was consistent throughout. He added that this was the aspect of this project that specifically encouraged him to play the character of Lee Shaw.
