Stellar Blade‘s demo has been making headlines for its exciting gameplay and stunning environment. However, there have been some comparisons as fans claimed that the game feels like a blend of games like Nier: Automata, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Bayonetta. However, the game’s director Kim Hyung-tae explained that Stellar Blade is different.
Stellar Blade has been making huge waves in the gaming industry after s*xism allegations against the developers surfaced on social media. The game’s protagonist, Eve, dons very odd outfits that seem like an obvious attempt to trap male gamers. Nonetheless, there is a lot of excitement about the game as the demo has managed to keep many players hooked, leading to a large number of pre-orders.
Stellar Blade‘s director shut down comparisons to games like Sekiro, Nier: Automata
In a recent interview with RuliWeb, Stellar Blade‘s director, Kim Hyung-tae, was asked to comment on the comparisons that gamers are making between Stellar Blade and games like Nier: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,
“Of course, we were influenced by many action games that have been released so far, but we did not focus on any one work in particular. The identity pursued by Stellar Blade is unique to us.”
Stellar Blade‘s demo was released on the PlayStation store on 29th March, giving fans a taste of what they can expect from the full game. While there are some controversies surrounding Eve’s outfits, the demo’s response has motivated the developers.
In the demo, players engage in battles that showcase stunning visuals and heart-pumping combat. Another exciting detail about Stellar Blade is its utilization of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller’s haptic feedback.
What inspired Stellar Blade‘s visuals?
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Hyung-tae explained what inspired Eve’s unique outfits that are featured in Stellar Blade. Overall, many popular animes and movies inspired the video game,
“Sometimes we design from scratch, and sometimes we brush up on something taken in the 3D scanning studio that we showed you on the studio tour – In addition to real-life costumes, some are influenced by anime and movies. When it comes to design, we try to think without limits and express the diverse charms of the main characters.”
Stellar Blade was first announced in 2019 and after being in production for 5 years, the game will finally released exclusively for PlayStation 5 users on April 26th, 2024. There are no plans for the game’s expansion as of now, but Hyung-tae has confirmed that new skins and many technical changes will roll out as soon as the game is released.
