Isabel Merced who is expected to make her debut in The Last of Us Season 2 has a lot of projects in hand. With Madame Web hitting theatres this week, Isabela Merced has been rather busy promoting another film while also working on multiple other roles at the same time. Merced is cast in James Gunn’s 2025 movie, Superman: Legacy, for the role of Hawkgirl.

For her role in The Last of Us Season 2 in which Merced will be seen playing Dina, an interesting detail was shared by her before she met the series co-creators. Merced revealed she had prepared for the series by playing the PlayStation exclusive in record time.

Merced signed for James Gunn’s upcoming DC movie in July last year, just before the SAG-AFTRA strike halted all productions across Hollywood. Merced revealed being rather excited to work with Gunn, especially after the screen test directed by Gunn which Merced mentioned felt like a “legitimate shooting day”.

Another role that has got Merced just as excited is being cast as Dina, for the sequel of The Last of Us, which is also scheduled to go on-air by early next year. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Merced relived the record prep time she pulled when she heard she was being considered for a role in the sequel.

As soon as she got confirmation that series co-creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin were interested in casting her for the sequel, she hopped on to her friend’s place for a 25-hour marathon gameplay of The Last of Us Part 2. Merced said she had fun playing the game and completing it in record time, though she also revealed she hadn’t played the first game yet.

Merced said she has already met Bella Ramsey who plays the lead role in The Last of Us Season 2, Kaitlyn Dever who she has also worked with in the 2022 movie, Rosaline, and the series co-creator Craig Mazin but is waiting to meet Pedro Pascal.

When asked if Merced is preparing for her Hawkgirl role at the same time, Merced confirmed that she is preparing for that and is also working towards promoting an upcoming movie, Turtles All The Way Down based on a 2017 novel, directed by Hannah Marks.

Merced will also be seen in Fede Álvarez’s movie, Alien: Romulus releasing on the 16th of August this year, another project Merced is excited about. Merced has the remainder of the year filled with projects, with The Last of Us Season 2 being one of the most highly-anticipated by gamers and fans.

Merced remains excited for her role in the series sequel and fans will hope the series completes the shoot and gets a smooth release as scheduled by early next year. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was recently released on PlayStation 5 with upgraded visuals.
