Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson really wanted to be the main leader of a new DCU as could be seen from all the effort that he put into marketing Black Adam, not to mention that he was an important figure in bringing Henry Cavill back into the DCU. However, neither of his attempts has been fruitful so far.

Cavill got kicked from the DCU by James Gunn’s plans for a new Superman, not involving the Witcher actor. The Rock’s latest movie, Black Adam, has failed to meet critic & fan expectations as well, not to mention that its box office performance has been pretty bad too. Now reports have come out that Dwayne Johnson turned down a cameo in another major DCU movie!

The Rock Turned Down Cameo In Shazam 2

It’s pretty clearly established that Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson’s efforts to bring Henry Cavill back as the rightful Superman of the DCU was part of a bigger plan by him to reignite the DCU’s lost footing in the world of movie franchises.

But one underlying reason that fans have identified regarding the former WWE wrestler’s relentlessness to bring Cavill back is that he simply wants a huge showdown between Black Adam and Superman.

Maybe that’s his idea of reigniting a superhero franchise as big as the DCU. But with recent announcements that have literally phased Cavill out of the DCU, Dwayne Johnson’s attempts for the big match between his character and Superman have been swept under a rug.

And now, he’s gonna have to settle for a showdown with his character’s actual archnemesis, Shazam, who is played by Zachary Levi. Recent reports regarding The Rock turning down a cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, however, might also be hinting that the San Andreas star isn’t too keen on fighting Levi’s character at all.

Johnson and his team are yet to comment on this rumor, which is why fans should take this with a grain of salt. He might actually end up appearing in the movie, possibly in a post-credits cameo.

Zachary Levi Might’ve Dissed The Rock In A Month-Old Instagram Post

It won’t be surprising to hear words of annoyance from Zachary Levi over whatever The Rock is trying to achieve by avoiding a showdown or meeting with Levi’s Shazam and Johnson’s Black Adam. After all, they are comically accurate archenemies.

Levi would’ve taken note of the fact that Johnson is doing his best to have a major fight with Superman first, instead of settling for a showdown between Shazam and Black Adam.

Throwback to a month-old Instagram post from Levi, one could also make out from the caption of the post that the 42-year-old actor was indeed dissing The Rock for his desperate attempts to shift the spotlight to his own accord. The caption read-

“Mark your calendars, y’all! Shazam! Fury of the Gods – wiser, stronger, faster, funnier, I mean, overall, cooler than the rest (and did we mention ✨humble ✨ 😏💅) coming atcha ONLY in theaters on March 17.”

Focusing on the word ‘humble’ surrounded with emojis, it might possibly be a dig at Dwayne Johnson to be humble from Levi, and settle with what he already has on a silver platter.

Black Adam is currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
