Being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he played one of the Eternals, Gilgamesh, in the 2021 feature. Don Lee, as he is known in the American industry, also got to work with some of the most prolific actors in the industry in the MCU movie. But there was one actor he was absolutely elated to work with.

The Bond Between Gilgamesh and Thena Translated Beyond The Screen

Don Lee played the strongest Eternal, Gilgamesh opposite Angelina Jolie‘s Thena. Both these characters are warriors who develop a close bond over the years they have been on earth and are extremely loyal to each other. But it was not just the characters who had a close bond, but the actors playing them also ended up becoming really close friends over time.

“We do have a history of different films, but also action… Their center is like two soldiers, who are unbelievably loyal to each other, and look after each other, and a deep respect and friendship.”

“The first time we met, it was as if we had known each other forever.”

But will this chemistry persist in the long run if Marvel does end up greenlight Eternals 2?

Not to say it is completely impossible for Ma Dong-seok and Angelina Jolie to work together again, but their MCU journey might have come to an end, and not because the studio is hesitant to greenlight a sequel to the 2021 movie. At the end of Eternals, we see the character of Gilgamesh dying, while saving Thena, the character played by Jolie.

Gilgamesh and Thena’s close bond is showcased in their story. As Jolie once said, “They would die for each other,” it came true by the of the 2021 Chloe Zhao directorial. Although, it might not be a surprise if the Eternal is bought back to life is some way, Marvel does have a way with these things. It would be amazing to see these two actors, who hold such deep admiration for each other, work together once more.
