Netflix had to delay the release of 3 Body Problem for almost a year to add one more scene

3 Body Problem is based on the book trilogy, Remembrance of Earth’s Past by Liu Cixin which originally came out in China back in 2008. The showrunners of the series, David Benioff, Dan Weiss, and Alexander Woo recently appeared for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that although the series was ready for release back in January 2023, they decided to add just one 5 minute scene which eventually led to a delay of almost a whole year. Dan Weiss revealed the details of the scene and what led to the delay of a whole year. He said,

“We got the scene written the day before the strike. It was literally five pages, but we really thought it was worth doing. Netflix was great about it. It would have been very easy for them to be like, ‘You have a finished show that is ready to air, for us to hold that [for a scene that’s] five minutes of two people in a bar.”

The producer of The Witcher talks about what went wrong with the series

Beau DeMayo who is the producer of Netflix’s iconic fantasy drama series, The Witcher once revealed in a Q&A session on his Instagram stories about how he felt with the writers of the series. Unlike the showrunners and writers of 3 Body Problem who want to keep the series as close to the texts, the writers of The Witcher do not even respect the original novels let alone follow their storylines. DeMayo said,

“I’ve been on show – namely Witcher – where some of the writers were not or actively disliked the books and games even actively mocking the source material. It’s a recipe for disaster and bad morale. Fandom as a litmus test checks egos, and makes all the long nights worth it.”

Although The Witcher has received positive reviews from the fans, some of the fans and critics have pointed out the divergence of the series from the arc plot of the novels on multiple occasions. The Witcher went on to further disappoint its fans after the announcement that Henry Cavill won’t be reprising his role as Geralt of Rivia in the next season.

All 3 seasons of The Witcher are currently streaming on Netflix.
