Shunichi Ishimoto, the animation director of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, has finally quit the David Production animation studio. He was affiliated with them for a long time and has worked on every JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series since the beginning. He was one of their chief animators and has now decided to become a freelancer.
The production studio started in 2007, and since then they have developed all of the seasons of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. David Production is also prominently known for anime series like Fire Force, Undead Unluck, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride on, Ensemble Stars, Cells at Work!!, and Urusei Yatsura. They have also worked on a bunch of movies, OVAs, and ONAs.
Ishimoto shared this news on his official X account, and fans thanked him for his contribution to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.

He thanked the fans for the love and support they showed to the animator and listed his contact details for his upcoming journey as a freelancer in the animation world.
Ishimoto leaving David Production will surely affect the company in a major way as he is one of their main animators. He was not only responsible for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure but he also contributed to multiple other anime series.
Ishimoto has worked with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure since the beginning of his career. He was the chief animation director for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, co-chief animation director for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable and stand designer for the fifth season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is known all around the anime world for its artistic style, which is quite unique compared to other anime series, and the major credit for this goes to animators like Ishimoto. Ishimoto’s involvement with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure certainly helped the series grow and become one of the best anime series of all time.
This is why, when he announced that he was quitting David Production and starting freelance work, fans filled his post with nothing but appreciation.

Although Ishimoto’s decision is great for the animator, it couldn’t have come at a worse time as according to reports, the Studio is working on the sixth season of the series, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run. The sixth season has been long awaited by the fans and was rumored to be released in 2025. However, nothing official has been disclosed about the series by the creators.
