Tom Holland is having a hard time recently. After his MCU success as a titular Spider-Man, the actor ventured out to try different roles in movies and shows outside MCU. The Crowded Room was a bummer for Holland. The Spider-Man actor explicitly said that he was “exploring certain emotions” outside MCU. Recently, talking to Extra TV, the actor said that he is taking a break from acting after the series. “Yeah, it was a tough time, for sure. We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before,” Tom Holland said.

“And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure. But I really enjoyed it. I loved the learning curve of becoming a producer. I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always sort of lived by this idea that hard work is good work.”

The critical response to the show is not very welcoming scoring only 13% at Rotten Tomatoes after the show’s premier for the critics. However, the series is yet to be premier on Apple+ and Holland is excited hoping that fans will welcome his efforts in the show. Talking about his break from acting the actor further said that he went to Mexico to lay low for a while.

“But then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I was sort of like, ‘I need to have a break.’ I disappeared. I went to Mexico for a week and had some time on a beach and lay low. And I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was… I am excited to see how it turns out and I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain.”

However, Holland’s break may end pretty soon as Sony Pictures’ Fred Astaire starring Holland biopic has a new director.

The Spider-Man actor plays Danny Sullivan, a young man arrested for his involvement in a shooting in New York City. The Apple TV+ series is an adaptation of Daniel Keyes’ novel The Minds of Billy Milligan which follows crime and investigation and twists and turns around it.

Further, for the first time, the actor is taking up the responsibility of a producer in the series. In an earlier interview with ET, the actor said that he was overwhelmed with his new role as a producer. “It’s interesting. You know the producing side of things was a really steep learning curve,” Holland told ET.

“Being on set, performing in this role, going to those dark places, while also, handling certain issues that happen every day on a film set was a little bit overwhelming,” he said.

Of course, Holland’s responsibility was extended in the show. He had two important roles as a lead and a producer. The show is set to premiere on 9 June 2023.

Further, Holland’s Spider-Man 4 has already been confirmed by the MCU head and producer Amy Pascal. However, the project is at a halt due to the ongoing writer’s strike in Hollywood.
