Robert Downey Jr. will be making a comeback to the screens after he said goodbye to his iconic role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he would now be starring in The Sympathizer. The series is based on the novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen, and by the looks of it, the actor is more than ready to take on the role of the HBO series.

He showed on his social media just how dedicated the actor is to his new role. Revealing in his latest post on Instagram that he teamed up with his kids to fully commit to the role.

On Instagram, Robert Downey Jr. was seen posting a reel in which he talks to his kids about not wanting to wear a bald cap for his role and would rather shave his head off. In a spur, his youngest kids both shared a look with the actor and they were seen in a transition of event, preparing to give him a haircut. The actor was soon enough bald and had captioned in his post the things one does for their children. Freshly ready for the role, the actor seems set to take on his next big project, he thanked his kids and became a Jack-O’-Lantern.

The novel on which the series is based relates the story of the South Vietnamese Government in 1975 and later events in American exile in Los Angeles through the perspective of a half-Vietnamese, half-French covert communist agent. It is set as a flashback in a tortured confession of a political prisoner. The spy is kept anonymous the whole time the story takes place, from the fall of Saigon to refugee camps and resettlement in Los Angeles to his period working as a film consultant in the Philippines to his eventual return to Vietnam and subsequent imprisonment.
