Cobie Smulders Rued The Omission Of Her S*x Scene With Tom Cruise

Cobie Smulders has chosen some high-profile projects over the years including a recurring role in the MCU as Agent Maria Hill and matching Tom Cruise blow for blow in their action thriller Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. The star spoke about her experiences being part of the set with Tom Cruise and discussed a particularly sizzling romantic scene that the duo filmed together after a long and lethal chase sequence. Unfortunately, the segment was edited out of the film’s final cut which was a surprise for the Avengers actor. Speculating on the reasons for the omission, Smulders said,

“If we were comrades in combat together, and truly equals, there wouldn’t be flirtation,I know this is movies and Hollywood, but the whole s*xual tension wouldn’t happen. We have other things on our minds.”

Instead of incorporating the love scene, director Edward Zwick chose to go with another shot in which both characters disrobe in front of each after a brutal fight like comrades in battle would. Smulders agreed with Zwick’s decision as this scene portrayed the characters as equals and combat partners thereby making it more realistic and relatable.
