The Witcher is easily one of the most iconic franchises in the gaming industry. Developed by CD Projekt Red, the three games of the series are critically acclaimed. The last game in the franchise was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which was released in 2015.
Ever since there have been rumors but little concrete news regarding the future of the franchise. But a recent post on X has shed some light on the next Witcher game. The post talks about the new game of The Witcher franchise which is supposed to begin production in 2024.
Fans Finally Get a Timeline for the Witcher’s Upcoming Entry
Since 2015, fans have been waiting eagerly for any news about the release of a new Witcher game. However, there weren’t too many news or updates as the developers kept their cards close to their chests. However, a post by a gaming news reporter on X has given fans some hope about the upcoming game.
Over 60% of CD Projekt Red, or 403 developers are currently working on the next Witcher game.

In the post, the user says that 403 developers are currently working on the pre-production of The Witcher game. In a detailed graph, the data of all the developers currently working at CD Projekt Red are outlined. The other titles that developers are working on are Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a new IP called Hadar.
The Witcher has three games simultaneously in the pipeline. Polaris is rumored to be the fourth installment in the series while Sirius is meant to be a spin-off. Apart from that, The Witcher Remake is currently in the concept stage and is being developed by Fool’s Theory.
However, fans have had quite a long time to wait with over 9 years since the last Witcher game released. So quite understandably, there was some frustration on the display in the comment section of the post. One fan wrote:

If this fan is indeed right in their speculation, then fans have a good 4-5 years of wait ahead of them before they can get their hands on the new Witcher game. However, with over 400 developers working on the project while it is in the pre-production stage, CD Projekt Red might just pull off the unthinkable and release the game within 2-3 years.
However, we will have to wait for official updates and confirmations from the developers to have a clear idea regarding the release timeline. A previous leak had also suggested that CD Projekt Red had apparently scrapped some amazing content from The Witcher 3.
Three New Witcher Games in the Pipeline
The post on X has gone viral with over 120k views as it talks about three different games of The Witcher franchise in the pipeline of CD Projekt Red. With almost a decade of no new Witcher games, there is finally some good news as fans can expect three new ones sometime in the future.
All eyes are now on CD Projekt Red as fans wait eagerly for official news regarding the much-beloved Geralt of Rivia and his upcoming adventures. With nothing concrete known about the direction of the story, setting and characters involved, the inevitable teaser trailer will no doubt blow the internet away, in a similar fashion to GTA 6’s.
