Praise from a movie veteran like Steven Spielberg has to be more than anything an actor can wish for. After doing his most recent film, The Fall Guy, Ryan Gosling got the stamp of approval from the legendary director.
David Leitch’s The Fall Guy is an action-packed comedy with elements of thrill to complement the narrative starring Gosling and Emily Blunt. Certainly, the movie deserves attention not just for the star power but for the action and narrative point of view as the movie went on to claim the accolades from Spielberg.
Steven Spielberg Praised Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy
Of all the things that happened to Ryan Gosling recently including singing at the Oscars, Gosling said that Steven Spielberg’s praise triumphs over all, “Steven Spielberg every time,” he told Collider in an interview appearing alongside his co-star Emily Blunt. However, “That was crazy” for the actor to digest at once.
“He was coming across the room, and I was looking, and I was like, ‘There’s no way. I don’t know Steven Spielberg. He’s not coming to talk to me.’”
The Barbie star further revealed that he was scared to the bone to confront the incident as the Hollywood icon was coming to him. He added:
“And then he keeps walking, and then I was like, I know what’s gonna happen. I’m gonna go [points at self and raises eyebrows], and he’s gonna go, ‘No, not you. Behind you.’ Then finally, he was right there — and now I’m being rude if it is me — and I went, ‘Me?’ And he went, ‘Yeah.’”
Spielberg came to the actor “and then he said he loved The Fall Guy.” Gosling revealed that it was amazing to hear the accolades from the legend himself.
One The Fall Guy Scene Terrified Ryan Gosling
Gosling is absolutely not a fan of height. The actor candidly revealed that he was terrified of the opening of the David Leitch movie that was made with a whopping $125 million (per The Numbers). The scene required Gosling to go up an elevator to do the stunt that involved quite a significant height for him but the scene must reflect his confidence in him while he jumped out of his skin.
“It starts in the trailers. It’s an amazing shot, and I totally got why it had to be this way, but it was challenging… The family of a set, the dynamic. It’s just the most fun job. One of the most fun jobs in the world. I think David did such a great job of communicating that.” Gosling told Collider.
The elevator went up fast which also scared Blunt “a little bit,” she added. Fortunately, Gosling found a way to hide his fear in his eyes.
“It goes up 12 stories. At the end, I put on sunglasses because I had terrified owl eyes, and I couldn’t hide it.”
Leitch’s The Fall Guy landed on Rotten Tomatoes with an 89% score. The movie also stars Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, and Stephanie Hsu.
The Fall Guy is now showing in select theaters.
