The battle for the title of the strongest swordsman is probably one of the most anticipated battles in One Piece as it features the current strongest swordsman Mihawk and the legendary swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, Roronoa Zoro. The battle will change the course of One Piece in a big way.

Although Zoro and Mihawk have already fought once, it was at the very beginning of the series, and at that time, Zoro was not strong enough to even stand in front of Mihawk but still showed willpower and confidence. Now, as Zoro has trained under Mihawk itself, their battle will be one of the greatest moments in One Piece history.

However, there is one problem with this battle that has been bothering One Piece fans since the start. This problem is the time period when the battle will take place is not decided and it does not fit well in the anticipated future of the series. Therefore, fans don’t know when they can expect this to happen.

The Big Problem With Zoro vs Mihawk Rematch

Of all the characters, Mihawk is the most unambiguous match for Zoro, but he is also the hardest to situate within the story. Probably the most important question about Zoro and Mihawk’s fight is when and in what context they fight. There are those who contend that Zoro and Mihawk will square off following the ultimate battle once all other matters have been settled, parallel to the One Piece finale.

This is absurd because it confuses the ending, and there is no way that One Piece ends with an epic showdown in which Zoro defeats Mihawk to become the greatest in the world. If the battle between Zoro and Mihawk is meant to be a big, dramatic one, then it is clear that this will not be the last fight in the narrative.

Since it will not be the One Piece climax, it must occur earlier. Additionally, since Mihawk will not be fighting alongside the Celestial Dragons in the final conflict, the Zoro vs. Mihawk duel must take place before the battle with the Celestial Dragons. This confuses the timeline for the One Piece fans.

When Can Mihawk vs Zoro Take Place According to One Piece Story?

Given that Cross Guild has grown to be a well-known organization and that Mihawk is now affiliated with them, as was previously revealed in the series, they will most likely battle or engage with the Straw Hat Pirates soon in some way which will be exciting to watch.

It is difficult to predict when and how Cross Guild will be made use of against the Straw Hats because Buggy isn’t a true matchup for Luffy, and it’s unclear where the Cross Guild would appear as a hindrance on Luffy’s Journey. Thus, it is unclear when will Mihawk face Zoro next in the story.

There is no obvious place to slot Buggy and Cross Guild, thus there is no obvious place to slot Zoro versus Mihawk, in contrast to Shanks and Elbaff, Blackbeard and Laugh Tail, Akainu and Imu, and so on in the final war, which seems like an appropriate next step for Luffy and the Straw Hats. It won’t be after the final war, but it also probably won’t be before the Red-haired pirates since Zoro vs. Mihawk cannot be the last battle of One Piece.
