As the storylines continued developing, McGregor’s character development got over. In an interview with Vanity Fairthe veteran actor talked about how people often used to ask him about the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi and whether he would return to the role or not.

“The end of every interview was like ‘Will you be playing Obi?’ and I didn’t, there was no plan. No one had ever talked to me about it. Ultimately, it got so embarassing ’cause I was constantly saying, ‘Yeah, I’d be up for it'”.

As the interview progressed, a clip when Obi-Wan Kenobi meets Darth Vader from the 2022 Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi was shown. McGregor revealed that he broke down crying while filming that particular scene!

“It wasn’t really written so emotionally, I don’t think but there was something about seeing Hayden, and something about working with Hayden again, in that state there, that made me feel that [the crying]. It took me by surprise as anyone else. Like when it started happening, everyone like, there were a lot of people on set for this”

In a separate interview, Ewan McGregor talked about working with former The Mandalorian star Gina Carano and how he almost broke his hand when he accidentally punched her!

Gina Carano is a former The Mandalorian star who appeared in the Disney+ show. But before the Star Wars show, Carano starred alongside Ewan McGregor in a film titled Haywire. In an interview with E! News, McGregor revealed that he accidentally punched Carano in the head but it was he who was badly hurt after the incident!

“The only time I got hurt was when I punched Gina Carano in the head by accident. I had a series of three punches, but the third one…for one reason or another I connected really hard on the side of her head—”

He further continued,

“She was the one who got straight up and said, ‘Are you OK?’ She was asking me if I was OK! But she was right because I almost broke my friggin’ hand!”

Well, Gina Carano was a former mixed-martial artist so it does make sense. In the end, Ewan McGregor’s return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the 2022 Disney+ show Obi-Wan Kenobi was received with applause. The show, which boasts a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDB and a high rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
