Adding another star to his portfolio of acclaimed works, Barbarian director Zach Cregger has teamed up with Thanos actor Josh Brolin on a new venture which has the latter excited by all means. Following a recent appearance in Dune: Part Two, the 56-year-old has jumped into the limelight. Yet, he is hardly taking any time to speak it all, as the latest script for the aforementioned pair-up for a horror-thriller named Weapons, reportedly has sufficient teeth to get him moving.

Marking the next horror thriller outing from a filmmaker who has already proven his mettle in the genre, Brolin shed out high praises for the former’s grand preparations. From assembling a strong cast to weaving an interconnected story, the actor opened up on how and why he is feeling excited for all the right reasons.

Celebrated for his incredible voice-acting and motion capture as Thanos for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin also boasts a legacy of movies that have made it big at the box office. Thus, a project strong enough to impress him should be a sell-out. In talks with Collider, the actor revealed that he did read the script for his upcoming flick, Weapons with Zach Cregger at the director’s helm and that he felt “super excited” about it.
The Sicario actor also spoke about his apprehensions on taking the job. After admitting that despite Cregger’s first movie, Barbarian, being a hit, “it’s still new for him”. However, upon meeting him a couple of times and soaking in the script, he started to feel incredibly positive about it.
There’s a lot of really good people involved. This was one of the few times when I finally went, ‘Okay, let’s do this.’ — and I think I was avoiding work anyway, just generally — when I said, ‘Yes, let’s do this,’ my choice just felt better and better and better and better with each following day. I’m super excited about doing this. We are doing it in May, June, July, and I just talked with him yesterday. I’m serious when I say I think it’s a really brilliant design of a script. Brilliant.
In addition to Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, and Benedict Wong, among others also stay slated to star in the project. While much of the plot details are still under wraps, the movie will be an interrelated, multistory horror epic with elements of drama and mystery. Additionally, the main crux revolves around a group of high schoolers disappearing mysteriously from a small town.
Josh Brolin may not be returning for Deadpool & Wolverine

Alongside Thanos, Josh Brolin has also played Cable, the time-traveling mutant in Deadpool 2. With Marvel Studios connecting the universes with Deadpool & Wolverine, many wondered about his fate in the cinematic universe. Additionally, a former IMDb listing of him in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman movie had many fans excited. However, much to their disappointment, the actor has backed out of any such claims.
In talks with The Playlist (via Unilad), Brolin said “Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie,” about his cast listing on IMDb. Furthermore, he wished the two leads a good run and seemingly bid goodbye to the MCU with “I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun”. Regardless, he is currently receiving praise for Dune: Part Two and the Outer Range TV series.
