The Boys is one of the most inventive and provocative takes on the superhero genre. The series stars Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight, a young superhero who gets a rude awakening regarding the superhero lifestyle in a world where they are celebrities. In a recent interview, Moriarty discussed the show’s most recent third season and broke down several important moments.
The third season of the series deals with Moriarty’s Annie trying to battle the corruption within Vought by working against them while being a part of The Seven. Moriarty also discussed her character’s relationship with Homelander and the actress’ favorite moment in character with Anne and Homelander’s salty relationship. Here is what Erin Moriarty said about her favorite moment in The Boys season 3 and how it deeply affects Homelander.
Erin Moriarty Reveals Her Favorite Moment From The Boys Season 3
Actress Erin Moriarty gained prominence for her performance as Annie January / Starlight in the superhero drama series The Boys. Moriarty sat down for a conversation with Gold Derby, where she discussed the show’s third season, its major events, and its implications for the main characters. During the interview, Moriarty was asked about her favorite moment from season 3.
Moriarty revealed that her favorite moment from the third season was when Annie quits The Seven. However, the actress also stated that the moment when Annie is made co-captain of The Seven is also among her favorite moments.
“And that moment where she finally thinks, “Oh my God, this is it. While it’s going to be so painful, this is the moment where the pain is going to be worth it. There’s going to be a woman in a position of power.”
Moriarty made the above statement explaining why she felt the moment was important to Annie’s character development. Later, Moriarty also commented on the nature of Annie and Homelander’s relationship, explaining how Annie becoming co-captain affected Homelander.
“And then in other respects, one might say that she didn’t step into her power, but that was ultimately with the objective of trying to work within a system, find out intel, and ultimately take Homelander down.”
Homelander is a twisted character who covets power and appreciation beyond anything. As a result, Annie becoming co-captain of The Seven not only takes power away from him but also risks Annie exposing him to the world. Thus, the moment when Annie becomes co-captain of The Seven is a nightmare for Homelander.
Erin Moriarty Teases Plans For The Boys Season 4
During the interview, Moriarty discussed other aspects of the show’s third season, such as The Deep’s return to The Seven and the climactic battle with Soldier Boy. In the concluding moments, Moriarty also teased what fans can expect from the fourth season without giving away too much of the plot.
“The circumstances somehow get crazier, but not just arbitrarily bigger. It’s truly just because the stakes keep escalating, and I don’t think anyone could possibly predict what’s going to happen, and I think it’s going to cause a lot of gasps.”
Moriarty also teased that the fourth season will have some shocking moments that will require some mental preparation on the part of the show’s most ardent fans. At the same time, she commented that the new episodes would be more character-driven and focused on exploring their moralities. The fourth season is expected to be released sometime in 2024.
