Ryan Phillippe is an actor known for a great number of roles. Some are from cult classics like Cruel Intentions and others such as Big Sky. His range is not one that is limited to only certain roles and he also chooses to expand in areas both in terms of acting and producing. When it comes to working in front of the camera, the actor goes head first no matter the challenge.
This allows him to do stunts that would otherwise be termed dangerous. Sometimes it would also pressure him into taking a toll on himself regarding scenes that require too much of him emotionally. Some would even render him sick because of how much he does to get his character right and up to perfection. In that manner, he actually managed to climb a wall of ice.
Ryan Phillippe Took a Risk with Ice
Ryan Phillippe wanted to work during the lockdown, the film he found was an independent movie directed by Julian Gilbey. Summit Fever saw the actor taking risks he never thought he would. The movie did not have a big budget so a lot of things that would otherwise be possible, such as simple CGI, were not. As per the Guardian, Phillippe found himself climbing walls of ice.
“On an independent, there’s no money to fake it, so it’s all real. There was this ice climb that we did, and there were times when I looked down and it was a sheer drop beneath me. Your life is in the hands of the guide who’s teaching you and it was like, ‘Yeah, I can’t believe I’m doing this.’”
The actor risked his life in order to get the scene right and he was climbing a wall of ice alongside his guide, who Phillippe found himself completely relying on. Around him were only depths of nothingness and he knew that one wrong move could risk him his life.
Ryan Phillippe Got Mistaken as Justin Timberlake
Ryan Phillippe remembered, while talking to the Guardian, about how there was a time when Justin Timberlake would often be mistaken for the actor. This very quickly affected him as well because there would be moments when the same would happen to him.
“Not really. Although there’s a great clip from Jay Leno’s Tonight Show [in 2001] when Reese was on and so were ‘NSync, and Justin talks about how he’s often mistaken for me. Then Reese says something like, ‘Well, I think Ryan’s much better looking.’”
Although the tables had turned from him, it was amusing to see just how often the two stars got their identities overlapped.
