Jon Bernthal’s appearance on Hot Ones certainly made for one of the most iconic episodes of the beloved talk show. The actor started by making it explicitly clear that he had a horrible spice tolerance, and ended with him having tears in his eyes and strings of curses leaving his mouth. One can imagine there to be nothing worse in that entire experience than having the final bite of the spiciest wing.
However, as he revealed, there can be something much more horrible. The hours after eating such spicy food seem to be some of the most tense in every way possible. Bernthal revealed that after he appeared on the show, he was to board a flight, which he almost didn’t do due to just how stressed he was about using the washroom.
The Aftermath of Hot Ones Was A Nightmare For Jon Bernthal
The horror stories surrounding First We Feast’s segment, Hot Ones, haunt all of Hollywood. The premise is simple, an assortment of wings will be provided, all ranging from most to least spicy. All the while, audiences get to spectate their favorite celebrities experiencing near-death experiences while swearing and crying.
After making an appearance on this, many have opened up about what it was like for them after cameras were turned off and these stories usually consist of horrible endings. Jon Bernthal, unfortunately, was no different.
The Punisher actor revealed that after appearing on the show, he learned a very important life lesson; things can be a lot worse when they are coming out of your body than when you are eating them.
Jon Bernthal’s Flight Became A Punishment
Jon Bernthal made an appearance at the Fan Expo, where he was asked about the aftermath of his appearance on Hot Ones. He seemed to have been so deeply affected by it that he was quick to answer. The actor revealed that he had a flight following his interview, where he was accompanied by someone who was to interview him later on.
Unfortunately, his stomach was so deeply affected by all of the spicy food that he ate that Bernthal was worried about how he would use a washroom on a plane. Things got so bad that the actor was contemplating not taking the flight altogether.
“I didn’t known about that whole concept about going out is worse than going in. And I didn’t know what that was. I got to the airport. I was with this young woman.” He went on, “I was promiting something (to her) and we happen to be on the same plane and I was driving to the airport and I was like ‘Yo, there is something seriously f*cking wrong with me.’ And I didn’t even know what it was.”
“I was like ‘There is something seriously wrong with me.’ And then I got at the airport and I was like, ‘Yo, I don’t know if I can get on this plane. It’s so bad.’ It was so band. Like screaming. It was terrible. It was terrible.”
The entire experience seemed to have been so severely traumatizing for the actor that it is safe to assume that he will not be sitting for a Hot Ones interview again.
