There is a reason why Minecraft is one of the most popular games that has ever been made. One of the primary causes as to why the game has failed to fall off in terms of player base and popularity is because of the consistent addition and revision of content by none other than Mojang themselves.
The studio has once again teased the upcoming additions of new elements to the game with the release of Minecraft 1.20.5 update, and it is a box full of surprises, making it one of the most important updates in a while. Following are the most anticipated game-changing features that will be released with the coming update.
5. The Bogged
It is better to start with the experimental feature first, as it unfortunately has the least chance of surviving a full implementation within the game. The bogged in particular is a new type of skeleton that is found naturally in the Swamps and Mangrove Swamps biome, and can also spawn in trial chambers through spawners.
Apart from a similar appearance, these mobs also fire arrows, except they are tipped with poison. If the player manages to use a shear on this mob, it will drop either Red or Brown mushrooms, and finally, it has a chance of dropping arrows tipped with poison apart from the normal bow and arrows when killed.
4. Spawn Chunks Optimization In Minecraft
One of the few complaints that players speak about is the abnormal amount of loading time the game takes when creating a new world. To fix the same, Mojang has reduced the radius of the spawn world chunk generation from 19×19 down to 3×3. This can also be changed with the new “spawnChunkRadius” command which will let the players set their own radius of chunk generation.
3. Armadillos
Armadillos is the mob that won the mob vote for update 1.20 back in October 2023. The studio has planned for the proper implementation of these new mobs to occur in the coming 1.20.5 update, and they will be spawning in Badlands and Savanna biomes.
If the player or a hostile mob chooses to get closer to an Armadillo, it will curl up to defend itself from harm’s way. Killing these little creatures would also lead to them dropping an item called the armadillo scutes, which will serve a great purpose revealed later in the list.
2. Better User Interface
After being one of the most ignored elements of the game for so long, the user interface for Minecraft, including the end credit scene, will be getting an overhaul with the upcoming 1.20.5 update. The update will finally take away the dirt wall we all know and love and replace the menu UI with an opaque screen. The end credit scene will also be receiving a change as they switch from the same dirt wall to a unique end portal effect in the background.
1. New Wolf Variants And Wolf Armor
It is indeed true that the best mob in the game will be receiving a major upgrade to themselves in the coming 1.20.5 update. Representing dogs from real life, wolves are the mob of choice of that every player tames at least once when they start their journey. The coming update will essentially feature new species of these wolves found in different biomes, with all of them barring different fur colors.
Furthermore, the players will be able to use the previously mentioned armadillo scutes to craft Wolf Armor, a feature that fans have been asking for ever since the game’s release. The armor can be dyed into different colors and is essentially what makes the coming update the best one that has come out in a while.
Minecraft is one of the few games that actually takes into consideration what the community wants in the game, which has been proven by Mojang time and time again. Including the Mob Vote, the studio takes the help of various strategies to maintain a stable connection with the community, something which Helldivers 2 developers could potentially learn from after the recent controversy.
