The MCU has now lost its big baddie for the current Multiversal Saga as Jonathan Majors was recently fired from the franchise. The planned overarching Kang storyline has now been scrapped as Avengers 5 is no longer called The Kang Dynasty.
The studio has not yet announced its future plans after this huge change. It is expected that the next two Avengers films will now be a two-part epic Secret Wars narrative. Now according to a popular scooper, it seems Kang will still be a part of the narrative of Avengers 5 in some capacity.

Despite Jonathan Majors’ Firing, Kang May Return to the MCU
The Kang storyline till now in the MCU has not gone down well with audiences. Ironically, the character’s variants were better received than Kang himself (placing him in an Ant-Man film was criticized by audiences). The firing of Jonathan Majors felt like the confirmation that the character would not be returning to the MCU anymore.
However, it may not be the case as a new report from popular scooper Daniel Richtman suggests that the Kang will return in some capacity in Avengers 5. He also suggests that the studio is searching for a new director which will be announced in the next few months. Richtman said, (via Screengeek)
“The idea is to include Kang in some capacity in Avengers 5. The plan is to start shooting in 2024, now specifically late 2024. They are searching for a director and one should be announced in the coming months. The first Avengers movie will have a more limited amount of Avengers.”
Fans should take this information with a grain of salt for now as nothing has been revealed about the studio’s plans since Majors’ firing. Only time will tell what direction the MCU decides to go and what they do with Kang’s storyline going into the future.
What Will the MCU Do Now With Jonathan Majors’ Recent Firing?
Jonathan Majors was recently dropped from the role of Kang the Conqueror. Fans of the MCU have been speculating about what the studio will do with the character’s arc that has been set up till now. Logically, there are two potential routes that the studio will take based on the character’s arc till now and Majors’ firing.
The first option is to recast the character if the studio wants to continue with the Kang in the future. The MCU has had no problem with recasting its characters, for example, Terrance Howard with Don Cheadle and Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo. In addition, there are so many variants of Kang so there’ll be no confusion. Daniel Richtman recently suggested that the MCU is planning to include the character in some way in Avengers 5.

This leads to the second option which is to introduce a new big baddie that can rectify the mistake that they made with Kang and bring a more intimidating villain that has substance and stakes. With reports of the next two Avengers films set to be an epic Secret Wars narrative (according to Jeff Sneider), Feige and Marvel may bring a high-profile antagonist from the comics and build a compelling narrative around it.
