The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a staple for moviegoers since 2008’s Iron Man graced the theater screens. Since then, the MCU has released numerous movies, TV shows, and shorts to keep the audiences engaged. And for a while, they were able to. With every movie providing a glimpse of what’s to come next, either with the help of particularly placed Easter eggs in the movie or the post-credit scenes, the hype was real.

However, as the number of projects started to increase, the MCU seems to have become a little complacent with the quality of its product. And this has led to fan disappointment. When a franchise as big as Marvel starts to dwindle while delivering a final product, it is bound to bring disastrous results. And the box office results have shown us just that.

The Long-Standing MCU Post-Credits Tradition

The MCU has been following the tradition of adding at least one post-credit scene since the very first movie of the franchise. Remember the first look of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury we got at the end of Iron Man (2008) or Agent Coulson arriving at New Mexico to find Thor’s hammer at the end of Iron Man 2 (2010).

Those were the good old days of Marvel actually putting some thought when adding these post-credit scenes to their movies. But after a while, it became more of a trend than something that actually made sense. Remember the Eternals post-credit scene of Kit Harrington‘s character Dane Whitman opening the casket containing the Black Knight sword? Yeah? If you’re wondering what happened to that, we are here doing the very same thing.

The MCU, with its post-credits scene, has tried to add so many storylines to the existing ones that it has created more of a mess than having the audiences intrigued about what comes next.

Fans Want Kevin Feige to Forego This MCU Tradition

After so many movies and TV shows that have been released so far, the MCU has become a behemoth of a franchise. And with each movie or show, Marvel Studios has continued to tease audiences with one or more post-credits scenes. In recent years, even since the end of the Infinity Saga, the post-credits scenes have only managed to bring in more chaos than answers to the already long list of questions audiences have so far.

And some fans now think that Kevin Feige should abandon this long-standing tradition of adding post-credit scenes at the end of every project. Or at least, if they do add them, the scenes should at least have some semblance of continuity rather than just adding more complexities to the existing storyline.
