Ryomen Sukuna has been labeled a ‘monster’, ‘tyrant’, and a ‘demon’ since the beginning of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. These monikers suit the King of Curses due to his immense power and cruelty. However, the JJK community has also conjured the most controversial assessment of his character, pertaining to a certain scene featuring Nobara Kugisaki.
Sukuna is one of the most fearsome antagonists in the world of shonen. Gege Akutami described the villain as a demon from the Heian Era but never revealed his origin story, leading to fan theories about Ryomen’s life as a human. The interest is specifically on his morality and the reason behind his extreme cruelty.
Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Defend Sukuna From Claims Of The Villain Being A Rap**t
Based on his twisted behavior and questionable morals, a few theories have branded Ryomen Sukuna as a molester. Such an extreme assessment arises from a scene in Chapter 7 of Jujutsu Kaisen. While in control of Yuji Itadori’s body, Sukuna threatens to take the life of Nobara Kugisaki after having “some fun” with the jujutsu sorcerer.
This isn’t the first instance in which the villain specifically disrespected women. At the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, when Yuji eats the Sukuna Finger, the latter takes over Itadori’s body and claims that he will be able to slaughter women and children. He has also not held himself back from hitting a woman – something that would’ve angered Sanji from One Piece.
The ‘headcannon’ of Ryomen Sukuna being a rap**t is certainly wild but not justified. Fans were quick to come to defend the character on social media. Check out some tweets below:
This fandom’s weird obsession lately of labeling Sukuna as a rap*st when he has shown nothing but the contrary is crazy https://t.co/exXZDZjZzW pic.twitter.com/4I3sLoXTgY

Some fans pointed out that Ryomen Sukuna was just a monster with an obsessive need for destruction. They believe he views both women and men as equal rather than being prejudiced: when it comes to squashing them with his might.
Exactly, you literally have legitimate reasons to label him as a monster. Pushing this weird headcanon ain’t it

Bro has shown no interest in the act of intimacy, bro just want to live his life as a cannibal and cause destruction
They already got valid reasons to call him a monster😭

Sukuna genuinely hates intimacy so the fact that these theories exist is crazy 😭 if anything he just wanted to fight her

Mangas tend to overexaggerate certain aspects of characters to bring out a deeper meaning. Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter had a clear obsession with children. However, in no way does Ryomen Sukuna stand out as something other than a monster who would crush anyone in his path.
Ryomen Sukuna Viewed Nobara Kugisaki As An ‘Animal’
Gege Akutami added a note on page 4 of Chapter 7 stating that Sukuna’s description of Nobara Kugisaki, terming her ‘it’, meant that he viewed her as an animal. This gives a peek into the mindset of the King of the Curses who viewed Nobara as nothing but a prey he wanted to hunt. Furthermore, it was descriptive of his general worldview of humans.
Instead of any controversial connotations attached to ‘fun’, Ryomen Sukuna meant that Nobara would give him a good fight before he defeated her. The battle-mongering villain noted how Kugisaki was “full of vitality” so killing her would provide him the pleasure he sought while also getting him a step closer to conquering Yuji Itadori’s mind.
Nobara Kugisaki doesn’t die at the hands of Sukuna but instead gets her head popped out by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration technique. Yuji failed to save her in Chapter 125 because he wasn’t properly able to control Sukuna’s powers.
