Doesn’t matter if you’re an old-timer or someone from the newer generation, everyone has experienced the magic of the surreal Disney animated films, which filled our childhood with amazing memories. And now, that magic is said to return once again as Toy Story 5 is said to be in the works at the company’s animation studios.
In a recent interview on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen made this exciting revelation about a fifth installment being given the green light by the studios, claiming that the script was better than before. But after four prior films in the series, it seems like fans are concerned with how Hollywood is just trying to turn unnecessary sequels and reboots into cash grabs.
Fans Are Concerned What Toy Story 5 Will Bring To The Table
Even if the first film in the series was released almost three decades ago, it feels like yesterday we were watching the original Toy Story with our parents in the cinemas, because that’s how timeless it was. And now, three sequels later, we have received confirmation from Tim Allen, the star who plays the role of Buzz Lightyear in the series, that there’s a fifth film that is being made.
But, instead of this news sparking the familiar joy we once experienced, most fans are concerned about the upcoming movie.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on his talk show, the host asked The Santa Clause star whether there was a Toy Story 5, to which he replied there indeed was, and it has already been greenlit by the studios to go into production. Along with that, he and Tom Hanks were being approached by the company to reprise their roles as Lightyear and Woody.
While the revelation may have been made to get people excited, it seems like many are concerned about the series getting another film. The recent trend in the film industry to stretch a storyline as far as possible has led to sequels that destroy the original film’s memory for the audience. Therefore, people have voiced their opinions about this on X
Really hoping this sparks the magic the first 2 had. I doubt it though. It’s all just remakes, reboors and sequels now. Things need to change in Hollywood.

While the previous four films in the franchise may not have been bad in any regard, the third one felt like it was the most fitting end to a series by many. Thus, we would just have to wait and see what the fifth has in store for us.

Why Are Sequels Of Films Sometimes Unnecessary?
It may be different for movie series that pack too extensive a story to be boiled down to one film, but sometimes, one movie that is made can last a lifetime.
This especially holds true for films not created with a sequel in mind that will be released in the future. An example of this is the fourth film in the Toy Story series, which was viewed as an unnecessary addition to the lore, especially after the third film, where Andy gives away his toys to Bonnie, marking the perfect end to the series in the eyes of many.
