Earlier this year, the actress, 29, responded on Instagram to Megyn Kelly, the former Fox News anchor, who had criticized Moriarty for allegedly getting plastic surgery at such a young age. Refuting to have ever undergone any form of plastic surgery, Moriarty called Kelly’s dissemination of this false information “bullying”.

As a public figure, Moriarty explained, she always expects to face backlash for any change she makes to her appearance. Still, she was unprepared for Kelly to use her position to further propagate the rumors about alleged plastic surgery.

Erin Moriarty’s Empowering Stand Against Plastic Surgery Criticism

Eric Kripke’s The Boys is a hit series that doesn’t shy away from tackling real-world issues with a brutal twist. But while fans love the show, the trolling of Erin Moriarty has become a serious problem. The actress, who portrayed Annie January/Starlight, has been targeted with accusations of plastic surgery and harsh comments about her appearance.

However, fans who have been trolling her ever since must remember & take note of what and how the actress is dealing with such a terrible situation. In January’s since-deleted Instagram post (via EW), Moriarty addressed the issue head-on, expressing her shock and disgust at the online harassment she has been facing:

This is becoming harassment. This is becoming false news.

She clarified that the photos being circulated as proof of her plastic surgery were simply the result of “makeup” and “major contouring” for a photoshoot.

Moriarty then called out Megyn Kelly for perpetuating false narratives and spreading hurtful rumors:

To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified.

Kelly called plastic surgery a “social illness” in the contentious The Megyn Kelly Show episode that aired on January 17 and cited Moriarty as an example of someone who had a purported “addiction” to the procedure. The former host of Fox News displayed two images of Moriarty, first praising the actress as a “nice, beautiful natural girl”, but then referring to another image as an “AI-generated face”.

In her Instagram post, Moriarty further discussed the complexities of maintaining a professional image and integrity in the face of public scrutiny.

Erin Moriarty’s Side of the Story: Dissecting Megyn Kelly’s Accusations

As a public figure, Erin Moriarty understands that criticism comes with the territory. But the relentless trolling and bullying she has faced took a toll on her mental health. She bravely spoke out against the toxic behavior and stood up for herself in the face of false accusations:

This is something I truly never anticipated writing. We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things…

After Kelly made a public accusation that Moriarty had had plastic surgery, fans even went so far as to sneer at the actress.

In response to Megyn Kelly’s remarks from The Megyn Kelly Show, in which she used Moriarty’s before & after pictures to justify society’s fixation with cosmetic surgery, the actress said:

Shame on you Megyn Kelly…Implying that my photo is reflective of women being in a worse place is as false as my conviction of saying that if you resigned, you would be leaving women in a better place.

Kelly claimed that the actress’ “before” photo was taken “about a year ago”, but Moriarty refuted this, telling fans that the photo was actually taken “about a decade ago, before I was of LEGAL DRINKING AGE”.

Surprisingly, to put an end to the drama, Moriarty even later removed the Instagram post. Without holding back, she denounced the entire event as outright harassment and false information. Hence, it’s important for fans to remember that actors are human beings too, & their well-being should be prioritized over cruel comments and baseless speculation.
