While this movie was deemed highly controversial back in the day because of all the n-de scenes it held with Fonda pretty much n-ked in at least one-third of the movie, it still gained an edge in the industry and is now considered one of those cult classics. And to bring a reboot of this very film to life, Sweeney isn’t afraid to use her greatest asset: Her unparalleled beauty.

Although only 26, Sydney Sweeney isn’t one to step back from letting the world know about the unparalleled beauty she possesses. And while she already displayed this throughout her Euphoria screen time, she claims she won’t hesitate to show it once again through her reportedly in-the-works Barbarella reboot.

The original film was based on a French comic of the same name and featured the lead character sleeping with a number of men as she fought the evil scientist Durand Durand, who created a weapon that is capable of destroying humanity. Because of this, Jane Fonda had to be n-ked for a lot of scenes.

However, Sweeney isn’t one to hesitate from stripping for all of those scenes. According to The Sun, the Anyone but You actress is anything but nervous, and seems to can’t wait to use “s-x as a weapon” for her next big project.

Here is Sweeney’s take on taking up the very character that pretty much transformed Fonda into a s-x symbol back in the 1960s:

“Barbarella is such a fun character to explore. She embraces her femininity and s-xuality, and I love that. She uses s-x as a weapon, and I think that’s such an interesting way into the sci-fi world.”

Plus, considering how she is more than just willing to explore anything and everything as she shared in the same interview, the young Hollywood heartthrob seems to have made up her mind on working on Fonda’s character regardless of what people may say.

While many deemed the film controversial because of all the n-de scenes it featured, Sweeney still feels the 1968 sci-fi film was ‘beyond iconic’. As per what The Sun cited her to have shared during the same interview:

“I watched the original and was like, ‘This is incredibly insane and beyond iconic’. I thought, ‘This would be interesting to be made in today’s world’.”

What about approaching Fonda and perhaps having her onboard to guide her around? Well, the Euphoria actress is open to this idea as well!

“It depends if she wants to be involved,” said Sweeney. “I’m always up for talking to as many people as possible.”

So far, considering all of these responses from the actress, it seems that Sweeney could perfectly do justice to the comic book character. This is why a reboot of the 1968 film starring her in the lead sounds nothing short of epic!

The original Barbarella can be streamed on Apple TV.
