Well, we know how wonderfully it all went down for the movie has earned enough criticism to last a lifetime for Sony. In a newly unearthed interview going viral on social media, fans are shocked to know that the actress made the career blunder of joining Madame Web all because of a major confusion thinking she was joining the highly revered Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony’s Spider-Verse is often confused with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite having characters from the Marvel comics, the two are totally separate entities, existing in different universes. With the power of the multiverse unlocked, the characters have the chance to interact, yet that is only a big may-be, not a potential happening.

Yet, fans continue to misunderstand that Spider-Verse exists in the MCU, especially after what happened in MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. And it seems even the lead stars of Sony’s latest epic fail, Madame Web had the same confusion.

In an old interview with ET Online from 2022, while on the red carpet for the HCA TV Awards, Sydney Sweeney exclaimed how excited she was to join the ‘MCU’ with Madame Web. In another interview with W Magazine, the Euphoria star yet again stated the same. And when her casting was confirmed, she went on to tag Marvel Studios in an Instagram post.

This huge blunder could have either been her agent or studio’s fault, yet fans reckon she should have done her own research before taking such a major step. As if fans did not have enough reasons to hate her first ‘Marvel’ movie, they are at it again attacking the actress for joining the movie thinking she was joining the MCU.

Madame Web, since before its release, has suffered some of the most brutal humiliations and jibes from fans and critics. Not only did fans call out Sony’s marketing team for making them believe that they would be seeing three spider-women in action but also for the utterly shallow and cringe script written. From acting to direction, fans have found innumerable reasons to hate the movie.

Even on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a spectacular score of 13% and has been called by critics as one of the worst superhero movies ever made. And so after this interview went viral on the internet, fans could not believe that Sydney Sweeney made such a huge blunder without researching facts.
