Batman has always been a character to strike great admiration among fans of the DC Universe. The Caped Crusader has always had a massive fanbase that has followed all versions, regardless of what cape they wear, or if they even wear one. The one variant that sticks out in front of all of the different Bruce Waynes is the character in Batman Beyond, which can be largely credited to the 1999 animated series.
The series became so iconic and the character became so loved that there have been attempts to make an animated feature that introduces him in a completely new light. Patrick Harpin and Yuhki Demers revealed something interesting about the potential project.
It would seem that the pair have been trying to get a Batman Beyond project approved by the higher-ups at DC but have found it difficult to gain footing. This has prompted fans to beg James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, to reconsider.
Batman Beyond Could Get Another Chance
Recently, Patrick Harpin, best known for My Dad the Bounty Hunter, and Yuhki Demers, best known for his work in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, shared some news about their conversations with DC. The pair took to their social media to reveal that they had been trying to get a Batman Beyond project approved by DC Studios.
When they went to pitch this idea, they were told that the franchise was in no way in a position to make a project surrounding this character. Regardless, they heard the pair out, respecting their enthusiasm for the project. By the end of the pitch, the sentiment held by DC changed from a ‘no’ to a ‘maybe’.
“Before we pitched, they warned us “there is absolutely no way we can do a Beyond movie”, but they loved our enthusiasm. We pitched the outline for the entire film, and what started as a ‘never’ turned into a ‘maybe’.” said the posts.
They also added that since this small change, they have been making their way up the hierarchy of DC Studios. Hoping to, eventually, get a meeting with the co-CEO of the franchise; James Gunn. The two also added that if enough people were interested in the project, they could get the filmmaker’s attention and hopefully make it.
“In the time since, we’ve been pitching our way up the company hoping to get to (James Gunn). But for now, here’s a taste of what we’ve been cooking.”
They also shared some concept art of what the film would look like, giving fans a taste of what the film could be if it was given a shot. Considering Demers is a part of one of the best-animated series of all time, the concept art did not fail to meet the high standard set by the Spider-Verse films.
Fans Plead With James Gunn
Patrick Harpin and Yuhki Demers’s posts about their potential Batman Beyond film have gained quite a lot of attention. Not only because of the idea of a new version of this character but also because of just how good the concept art looks.
Certainly adding to the uniqueness of the character and helping the atmosphere of the world seem even darker, fans cannot get enough of the masterpieces.
This has prompted many spectators to call upon James Gunn himself, demanding that he do something with the opportunity that has fallen in his lap. Many talk about how it is about time something as good as this happens with the franchise.

I truly hope this happens. Batman Beyond is such a fun storyline and to see a Spider-Verse type animated movie of it would be insane.

In the past few years, DC has been hesitant when it comes to introducing characters that exist outside of their main universe and are not canon as it creates quite a lot of confusion for fans. However, this may be the rare occasion where it would be the perfect decision to take this direction.
