There is no doubt that George RR Martin plays a huge role when it comes to distributing credits for the huge success of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. Without his contribution of creating an intriguing backstory dating back to 5000 years of the current events, the would not be what we know today.
Revealing in an interview via Edge, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of the game revealed how there is one particular contribution made by Martin that has made the title what it is today. And we believe it is what would make the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC better than the main game itself.
What Was The Greatest George RR Martin Contribution To Elden Ring And Why It Will Make Shadow of the Erdtree Better
As mentioned before, it was the writer of the famous Game of Thrones book series, George RR Martin, who created the backstory for the main plot of the game. This includes coming up with all the demigods such as Queen Marika and Radagon, as well as planning the whole shattering.
Revealing about Martin’s greatest contribution, Miyazaki revealed-
“When he wrote the mythos, we asked him to create these dramatic heroes of this ancient mythos that takes place before the events of the game. These dramatic and heroic characters weren’t really in our previous titles, so this was something that was really appealing to me – how he would depict the mystique and heroic qualities of those characters.”
The director of the game essentially revealed how there was a lack of heroic characters in FromSoftware’s games before Martin came along, and it was an idea that Miyazaki really started to like.
The introduction of heroic characters has truly been revolutionary, and there is no doubt that the renowned director would like to master that particular element with the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. However, it is not the only thing that Miyazaki has planned to add to the coming extension.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Plans To Add His Favorite Region Of Every Soulslike Map In Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed in an interview before how his favorite region of map in the game he has created is the poisoned swamp, and how he adds to add them once again in the upcoming extension for the game.
Players of the game have anticipated how the new poisoned swamp that the director of the game intends to add will give the player a status build-up of deathblight, as teased in the gameplay trailer. The new swamp will be among the many new enemies, items, and weapons that the player will get to explore and obtain in the time of a few months.
Players now patiently await the release of the coming DLC on 21st June 2024. As revealed in the official gameplay trailer, our tarnished character would be traveling to a place called the Land of Shadow by interacting with Miquella’s withered arm found hanging out of his cocoon in Mohgwyn’s palace.
