As revealed by the director of these games, Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview via Eurogamer, Poison Swamps are surprisingly his favorite map region that he has created in Soulslike games. He further disclosed how he is planning for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC to feature more of these swamps.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Plans To Add More Poisoned Swamps In Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
Scheduled to be released on 21st June, Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the most anticipated DLC that FromSoftware has ever planned to release. It brings an extension of content to the already vast game of Elden Ring, and revealing the addition of more poison swamps, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed:
“In a word, yes, But this was actually a point of introspection for me after creating the base game. It was only after creating it that I realized I really like to create poisoned swamps. And this was a little place of introspection and reflection for me. So maybe, when players reach the poisoned swamp in the DLC, they will feel a little bit of this retrospection.”
The renowned director essentially revealed how he discovered his love of creating poisoned swamps in his games after he was done making the base game. He hopes that when players reach the new poison swamps in the DLC, they will look back toward the swamps Miyazaki included in the main game.

What Do We Know About The Upcoming Elden Ring’s DLC
The aforementioned trailer for the coming DLC seemingly confirms the presence of Miquella as a prominent figure in the storyline. Our tarnished character will allegedly travel back in time to a place called the Land of Shadow, where he will be guided by Miquella in his quest that remains undisclosed for now.
The YouTube descriptions for the trailer as well as the official website also reveal how this is the land where Queen Marika first set foot and rose to godhood. The trailer has also teased the presence of another demigod called Messmer the Impaler, who is also rumored to be the forgotten empyrean sibling of Miquella and Malenia.
As stated before, millions of fans around the globe patiently wait for the much-anticipated release of the upcoming DLC, fixed to be released on 21st June 2024. This has also prompted many fans to speculate their unique theories predicting the events of the coming extension.
