Solo Leveling’s anime director Nakashige recently answered some fans’ questions regarding the anime series and these discussions were shared by @chromat1cfire on X(Formerly Twitter). While answering these questions, Nakashige revealed why he decided to avoid the comedic elements of the series.

Nakashige revealed:

“I thought this work required the high-end visuals that are trending these days. Therefore, I tried to avoid cartoon-like expressions as much as possible and tried to use compositions, colors, and shooting processing similar to live-action footage”

According to Nakashige, he wanted the series to match the works that are trending these days which is why he decided to avoid cartoonistic elements from the story which essentially helped in adding comedy to the series. This has resulted in fans being disappointed by the anime series as the future arcs of Solo Leveling carry many more comedic elements.

Fans Are Not Happy With Solo Leveling Director’s Decisions

Nakashige’s reason for not including the comedic aspects to the story of Solo Leveling anime hit the internet, fans started expressing their opinions regarding the decision. Fans mostly shared their disappointment with the creators as the comedic aspects were one of the most important elements of the story.

If the creators decide to remove the cartoonistic or chibi art from the series in the future too, they will write their own doom. The chibi art not only adds comedy to the story but also makes the character look more round than flat, especially for shadows like Beru. Additionally, it helps in the development of relationships between two characters.
